Hmm if I'm understanding you correctly you get a shudder when the wheel is locked in one direction or another and you're turning uphill or downhill (?). My power steering will get the front end shuddering when I max out the rack in one direction or another. Unless you're describing something else, I'd say it's normal. :notsure:

Edit: now that I think about it, your steering stops were chopped like mine (got new ones waiting to be installed) so they might have stopped your truck from doing that before the pump got mad. Now they're not there so you might be experiencing something different from a stock truck where the steering stop smacks the LCA to limit the wheels turning prior to the rack maxing out - can't say for sure where the rack maxes, out, but I figure the steering stops were there like a bump stop is for keeping a shock from bottoming out. Just can't have the steering stop smacking into your secksy fabbed LCA's though

Yes that's what it feels like.
First time I felt it I was hopping over a curb I cut too sharp and when it shuddered in the pedals a kinda freaked out cause I thought it was my brakes fucking up again
Now I've noticed it a few times since and it's always been when turning up or downhill.
I just wanna sort out all the simple problems before they become complicated problems in the middle of nowhere haha

Yeah I don't think it would be a problem unless you keep the steering wheel cranked while you romp on it.

@Caboose117 does it happen when brakes are disengaged? Or when you're at a stand still? Probably able to cancel out this possibility easily - gotta admit they do feel similar in my experience.

Easiest way to figure it out is to do it in a quiet place with the radio off and the windows down. If the shuddering starts when you hear the steering pump hit overdrive, you know it's that and your foot's off the brake.

    So here's your problem!

My buddy has a first-gen Tundra that converted to first-gen Tacoma manual hubs. He used his Tundra shaft and just swapped the outer CV joint.

Pics? Everything I've read said that this wasn't going to work because the shafts are different diameters and spline counts. It would obviously save a lot of money if your friend didn't need custom axle shafts. Where is he located?

I heard it didn't work too...but also saw other people say it worked. Maybe try a Napa axle

I pm'd him for more info - that's what I was thinking that maybe aftermarket cv's would work.

I don't want to start a thread and get random answers. What spring rate should I run with an arb bumper and a winch on a first gen? The coilovers in the garage have 650# on them now, should I bump up to 700? These are stock replacement saw's btw

Getting some sketchy swaying from the bilsteins being way too soft for that kind of weight up front

Interesting, I forget you have a first gen with a big ass bumper. Hopefully 650 is good then, I was thinking 700 would be unnecessary but what do I know.

I need to rebuild the shit out of these coilovers including all the uniballs, gonna be fun.

If I triple stack 50 inch leds on the roof will I have to go up in spring rate though?

haha were the former lt lurkers, this truck is staying mid travel too. 2nd gen is a little heavier though huh?

I'll probably try the 650 that came on there then and try to save some cash. Can always swap Springs really quick if it's too soft. I've never had to deal wth a heavy ass bumper and winch like that, not even sure how often I'll use that winch.

Have my work cut out for me, not bad for $100 though:

I had 600s before and it was way too soft. I would try the 650s, but I'm super happy with 700's

Knowing my lazy ass the 650's will be too soft and I'll order 700# springs that sit in the garage for at least 6 months lol. Thanks man.
