So im trying to change the front pads on the kids 89, and I'll be damned it I can get the bolts broke loose. I've sprayed them and hit them with my cordless impact. Even tried to spin them both ways, nothing. Any ideas?

The bolts are definitely standard thread, the first time I took my caliper mounting bolts out I had to use a MAP gas torch to heat the ear and canned CO2 (upside down) to freeze shock the bolt, then turned them loose with a 24" breaker bar. A short 6 sided socket is also your friend here, more torque will go into the bolt head rather than angular deflection the closer you are to the head.

My trusty air impact wouldn't even touch them. And you don't want to run the risk of breaking the head off in the spindle.

Maybe previous owner used lock-tite on them.Like stated above a little heat may break them loose!

Thanks guys. Just to double check, bolts turn towards front of truck to break free? I tried both ways, and no joy

If you face the bolts, turning them counterclockwise will loosen them.

passenger side would be towards the front. Many times I put a closed end wrench on the bolt and hit the top with a mallet in the counter clock wise direction to loosen, usually takes a couple good taps. I dont think the cordless impact has enough torque to free the bolts.

Yeah, no luck. So tomorrow it gets pulled to work and out comes the air gun. Put heat on the caliper and ice on bolt, nada..stood my fatass on the breaker bar with cheater, nada.hell, I might replace the calipers just so we don't have to do this again..

They shouldn't be that tight. The torque spec is not very high. The last person to work on it either tightened it too much or put loctite on it or it's rusted. I'm surprised you didn't break the bolt putting your fatass on the breaker bar.

Good luck with it and I'm interested in finding out why they are stuck.

    Update.
So heated the calipers up, sprayed more p.b.blaster while hot, wouldn't budge. So had the kid bring it to the yard. Got the air guns out, and we tried it again with a wrench, they just popped loose...lol. So he's got new pads. Rotors will be ordered with rear drum kits. May as well do it all..

The kid looked at me and asked if it's always this hard to change brake pads...lol. said most times it takes longer to pop the wheels off, this one just want to make him earn it...

Out in hercules. That's the main reason I got him this truck from work. It's dead nuts simple.looks like crap, but for 500.00 it's a great first vehicle.

For $500 it's a score,he can probly drive it a few years and still make a profit on it if he ever decide to sell.
