Why not just buy a used one? Especially if you're considering wheeling it

I made a couple of errors in my car buying past. If you like the 3rd Gen and just need the 4x4 peace of mind, I would say bite the bullet. Finding a great used one where a dealer will have the room to finagle the negative loan value would be very difficult. More easily done on a new one.

Yes i wish more people understood that just because a used car is lower priced doesnt mean youre gonna get it that price with a trade in, new cars are way more easier to deal with and dont have to worry about previous use.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
YOLO once! True- If "MNO" (money is no object) -- that's fine and good. But if after buying one's truck all you can afford to do is sit in your driveway/yard and look at the object you overspent for -- then it is a sad situation to be in. Then again if you can afford to buy whatever you want and have other funds put away for emergencies -- then go ahead and buy whatever you want.
Good luck -- just think before you commit!

Sounds extremely high. I paid much less for my cement pro....although I do wish I could've gotten a longbed.

Just get it, eat the extra money...if you can... and move on. No sense
in being unhappy with a brand new truck.

Have you looked at other 50k+ options? 50k+ for a Tacoma just seems ridiculous when you look at the rest of the market (including used).

For example, you could have a reliable truck AND a dedicated trail beater for that price.

Or you could have a whole lot more truck for 50k. You could even have a lightly used Tacoma and like $20k+ in upgrades.

Up to you, but I think the whole new Tacoma reliability, well worth 40, 50k gets overplayed a bit here.

50k is a lot of money and you can get a lot more than a stock new Tacoma for it.

You could put a locker on the 2wd and see if that suits your needs. You've already carried a financial error into the cost of your new vehicle, no sense in compounding the issue by changing up a perfectly good truck for another perfectly good truck. I'd really try the locker first, if you really feel you need 4x4 down the road you can look at adding it though I don't really have an idea of how much $$ and time that would chew up.

That is a TON of negative equity you currently have, and if you trade AGAIN you will only compound the previous error. Drive your money out of your current truck, and then consider it's replacement. There's no sense in making the same mistake twice.

OP, if you are new to trucks, you may learn that you do not need 4x4. Offroad your 2wd as much as possible with experienced people, try a locker like @Ben3141 suggested, and if that is not sufficient, then and only then should you upgrade!

Its coming out to 50k because I have previous warranties on this truck which equate to 5k, so when I cancel itll come out to 45k only because i Had negative equity from my first trade in

you need to sell this truck, buy something shitty and cheap until you get your finances in order. you are 2-3 bad decisions away from being so far in debt you can't breath. I've been there and its not fun. proceed with caution
