    Not much stock left.
I'm interested in seeing what the specs are going to be on the new Ranger Raptor/Raptor Ranger that's being released in Australia, and slated for the states in 2019. There are a couple videos of one being raced around the Australian desert. Hopefully, it will have some success and put pressure on Toyota. But let's face it, the Taco is popular. It has a great reputation, so Toyota doesn't have to do a lot of refinements to sell them.

"even if that were true" fucking LOL, like I said living in ignorance in this day and age is a CHOICE. You guys act like facts don't exist, is everyone a trump supporter on here or something?! :D

Look it up, new car sales dealer profit is 1-2%, for a few years it was even negative, sure you could argue 1-2% isn't "razor thin" as I claimed but come on lets be real hardly any businesses at all can operate on that tight of margins so I'd say "razor thin" is an accurate description. These aren't opinions or some grand conspiracy its very simple information to lookup yourself. I'm not trying to garner sympathy for dealerships as they have other departments that are their major source of income (parts, service, used cars, bodyshop) but at the same time I'm just pointing out objective truth. Truth doesn't care about thoughts and feelings its why I love science and facts :)

Also don't hold your breathe on tacomas being given away, if you think 20% off tacomas will be the norm you're going to be so disappointed. If what you say is true than I should've been able to buy a 4x4 Tacoma brand new for <$20k in 2008! Gas prices were skyrocketing, truck sales were crashing... But of course I couldn't, to understand why that is you have to have a deeper understanding of economics than thinking everything is as simple as "supply and demand". You have to understand things like price elasticity, elasticity of demand and how those relate to equilibrium, thats to say nothing of opportunity cost in relation to saturating the market to the point of going in the red on a specific product line just to maintain economy of scale (it wouldn't even get to that point as you assume, unless a CEO made a MAJOR mistake). People take a high school economics class, learn terms like "supply and demand" and think everything is so simple... But if you make it to ECON300+ in college the first thing they tell you is everything you learned in ECON101 is oversimplified bullshit

On that note fuck the invisible hand, Reaganomics is bullshit, and they call it the American dream because you have to be a asleep to believe it. I'm so edgy :headbang:

Easy boy, I quoted you because I was agreeing with you. I thought it was clear from my post that I was saying "Even if what cliffyk said was true..."

WRT the other stuff, the current fullsize market is a decent indication of where the midsize market is headed. If you only get 20% off a F150 or Silverado 1500, you did something wrong. The rebates/incentives/discounts on those are outrageous, although the OTD prices still end up north of $40k easily. Toyota constrains Tundra supply, so they don't engage in those games, but their production plans for the Taco clearly indicate they plan to keep their place as the 'F150 of the midsize segment', a title Ford may not want to cede.

When will people stop using OTD when factoring "cost"? The number isn't a part of the calculation and it can vary drastically by state/city/county. OTD in Seattle adds 10-14% to the truck (sales tax is 10.1% alone). 130 miles away in Portland, fees and 0.0% sales tax only add .1% to the cost. Everyone here needs to stop adding that to the "cost". It's not part of the price of the truck so stop using it as a factor when discussing vehicle "costs".

I said "OTD" because trucks get saddled with dealer/port-installed accessories more so than any other vehicle type, to the point where it's virtually impossible to buy one without tonneau/side steps/roof rack/etc. But I was too lazy to type "vehicle cost plus dealer/port-installed accessories".

I sold my civic si a month ago and put the cash with my "truck savings fund" and now I'm just waiting for Toyota to announce the '18. Really wanted it before the snow flies around here but I'm thinking that'll not happen. May end up having to wait till spring. Good job screwing the finance department Toyota.... the longer I have to wait, the less willing and necessary it'll be to finance anything.

I am not going to buy a new vehicle until my youngest is out of preschool (June 1st...246 days but who is counting...), or else I would jump on a 2017 now. I wonder if the 2018 will be a short run, or if December will be the date the new ones hit for several years.

No joke... It's insane that I'm able to place an order for something that hasn't been released yet. They surely didn't wait to take the $1,000 deposit...

I told my dealer that If I don't hear anything within the next week or two I'm going to buy something different and request that my deposit and order are cancelled. They told me that if the order can be put in, than I shouldn't have to wait any longer that 6-8 weeks (especially since I didn't buy a pro). It's a shame, as I truly do like that Tacoma, but it's damn near impossible to find a 2017 6MT Inferno Sport with all the options checked.

Anybody think they are going to put the 8 speed tranny Toyota is using now in several other vehicles with the same engine? One of the biggest complaints with this is the 6 speed auto and they have a 8 speed auto now they are using with the same Taco engine so why not? Makes sense and maybe that is why the 2018 model hasn't been released yet as they are retooling to make the change and want to get rid of the 2017s before they do announce the change. The models that use this engine and tranny combo also has a bump in HP....

The 8 speed used in other applications are for a tranverse mounted engine. Those transmissions would not work in the Tacoma. I feel that Toyota should have developed a 8speed for launch of the 3rd gen.

Be patient, it's coming. It will be interesting to see what changes Toyota made for the Tacoma. The rumour is LED headlight and fogs, TTS, new grill and possibly new LED tail lights.
