Have you tried using the ECT button? I test drove a Sport Monday while waiting on my wife's Rav4 to get serviced and on the way out I didn't use ECT, but on the way back I pushed that button and it helped. My salesman knew I wasn't really going to buy the truck but he wanted me drive it anyway hoping he could change my mind. I told him once the Ranger is released and I drive it, if I don't like it I will be back to get a Taco.

Never had a Taco (or even a truck) before I got mine, but I would not sell it. It has it’s issues but they really aren’t that big of a deal.

OP, if you had done any research at all you would have known what the common issues are, and should have noticed them on your test drive - enough to influence your purchasing decision, anyway.

I'm curious, because I've never driven anything with a 1GR in it.. was your 2015 noticeably better at low RPM than the new truck? That's seems to be the consensus here on TW.

I very often squawk the tires from a dead stop while making a turn. I will NEVER NEVER understand how people say this truck is 'slow' and 'cant tow anything'. Especially from guys like this , who have owned a bunch of Tacomas, THIS IS THE FASTEST ONE. The gas pedal reacts differently, that's the only difference. It took me 1 week to get used to.

Litteraly all you have to do is press a little bit harder on the pedal or press ECT power.

Just so OP knows, there is a company that makes a plug and play device via OBD connector, that corrects most of the shifting complaints for the 3rd gen. I think it's called shift sense pro. @riz_atx has one and loves it. He can tell you more about it

As far as your padding issue with the seats, the only fix is what you did, added padding. Imo my 2nd gen seats are great, haven't been in a 3rd gen yet. But there are many many other vehicles from different manufacturers that have bricks for padding in their seats. It's not a Toyota or tacoma issue itself.

Keep driving it you'll learn to like it. I came from a chevy 1500 with a 6.0 that had tons of torque. Wouldn't go back if I could. Now if I could go back and buy a long bed Tacoma that woul be a different story.

Also had a 2010 Trd OR with manual tranny, motor had more torque low down but drank more fuel than my 3rd gen.

Now with 17k on my truck I love it. Nothing else out there peaks my interest.

You are on to something here. I think he needs to keep driving it. I've seen many of these threads pop up all with the same if not similar complaints. Many came from f150, Silverado, etc. And the tacoma does not compare to other trucks, it's stands by itself and it's a great midsize truck! Also it's not build for speed like many complain about. This is not an Ls equipped truck that you can add a programmer and pro charger to and have a fun weekend toy. The tacoma is a superb truck, reliable, great mileage, nice styling, easy to work on and mod, parks so much easier than full size trucks, you CAN tow with them, etc.

We're here to help OP but there are tons of threads on here with issues that have arisen, and some/most of them have a remedy to said issue.

I actually stopped following that shortly after the tune released when there wasn't a version for manuals yet. Is there a version for both tranny's now?

What changes are you making to improve your complaints OP? I hear swapping in a Tundra V8 is one way to go...

That's a great idea! Did they just add more to it? on just the seat butt or did you add in the back as well?
