Nope many cams are 5v you will need an inline buck converter or just buy a cheap wiring kit made for a dashcam from Amazon they are around 10$, there is one in the list at bottom of page

 

Been looking into that already actually. Spy Tec makes one, cheap, so might go that route, and get another AAF D) since I already have one, but guessing "tapping" into the existing one is not a good idea.

 

I think I have it linked in my build thread, but I bought the blackvue b-112. It's essentially a battery pack that charges only while the vehicle is on. Then once you turn the vehicle off the camera switches from car power to the battery to conserve your car battery power. The battery pack gets powered the same as the camera would. Positive to AAF that in a switched power slot and a ground. It's a little more expensive of a set up but allows the dash cam to run up to 12 hours while the car is off and not use the car battery power.

 

We'll see what I end up doing. First gotta MAN UP to do the install myself, and connect wires and stuff. But gotta buy the right stuff for that first.

 

Shouldn't be too bad you got it!! Also I just remembered the b-112 gets powered by plugging into the 12v socket so I just wired in a socket behind my dash to plug it in. Same way though. Positive to an AAF and a ground. You can find 12v sockets meant for hard wiring at any auto parts store or walmart.

Can anyone help me find a part # to this shield or it’s actual name? Having the hardest time finding it. I snapped the bolt to the bracket holding it while greasing the driveshaft, it’s all pretty rusted would like to replace it

 

This took alot longer than I thought it would but it's much cleaner/safer.
Custom made 5/32" aluminum plate that my friend had lying around. Pain in the ass to make more custom cables (0/2 welding cable big 4 upgrade) but I needed all my wiring cleaned up and a breaker on my 3000w inverter.
