Meh, Not entirely true. I’ve gotten stuck enough with the 2wd Off-Road and locker engaged. Wouldn’t have been an issue with the 4WD.

Ditch all the warranty crap, you don't need it.

    $50K?!?!?!?!?!

Seriously, I think the best option is to bow up and get upside up, then sell the truck and start over. You can spend any free time (when you aren't working extra to get upside up), researching and deciding what you really want.

Op, after reading all the replies and specifically looking at some of yours, I believe you came here seeking approval to "just go for it" and buy the truck of your dreams. You have received a lot of good advice and some bad in my opinion, but I wanted to plant one more seed in your head. I know you, I am you when it comes to buying shit that I think I need, and I got away with it for many years. While I never made quite as bad of decisions as it appears you have (cough $5K warranty), I did purchase some things that kept me at the edge of my means. You're picturing yourself driving around in that bright orange OR and I'd imagine you're quite happy, but the truth is that will only last for a short amount of time. The first few months of bills will be manageable and you'll be thinking you made the right decision because you're happy, but after six months of huge car payments and that new car smell starts to wear off, things are going to change. Now I know nothing about your income or finances, but based on that interest rate you have I'm guessing you're at the edge of your means already, if not over. Within a year that car payment is going to be a constant reminder of a bad decision you made and it's going to eat away at you. If you start falling behind on payments that will compound your stress and then driving that truck will be as enjoyable as getting a root canal. Not only that, but if my suspicions are correct, you probably already have a lift, wheels, and tires picked out for that new ride that is going on a credit card within a week of getting that new truck. You definitely don't need that either! Do what you want, but try to think of the long term consequences. Would you rather be living on cloud nine for six months then regret it for the next 10 years, or be disappointed now for maybe a few months, and have no regrets later down the road. Good luck man, I know it's hard!

PS: if you're not married already, find a girl that is tight on money. My wife has saved us more money in three years than I ever could have imagined and I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.

New Hampshire - you can get a nice little house for that - but we have no sales tax, so property tax does add up...

    Inferno is orange, not red.

The amount you are spending makes me want to throw up (for a Tacoma). I also have no clue what posesses people to piss away $5k on warranties.

I could rebuild and engine AND a trans for that.

My personal opinion is that you should pay cash for vehicles. Especially if you say anything remotely close to "I came in negative".

The only time that happens is when your interest rates are insane.

Just me, but I would be looking at vehicles I could pay cash for or at least pay off quickly. I would not be taking out a 45k loan on a truck AND be adding waranty costs to the loan.

I don't like to think of anyone in this world being in a position where they have to have their truck repo'ed.

Look for a great 2nd Gen. Will put you in a better financial position and youll have more money on mods.

You can buy a lot in life for the cost of warranties and interest. $5k is the cost of an incredible lift kit.

A great 2nd gen is only going to be a few grand less than a new 3rd gen, which will not help this guy out. He is already upside down, and sounds like many thousands.
Not sure what the interest rate you have currently, but consider refinancing?

I thought I saw something like 15% posted earlier, but maybe that was referencing something else. Given he's upside down though, I'll bet his rate is over 10% which is ridiculous. Anything over 5% is not a good decision.

No. Even a newer 2nd Gen will be close to $10k less. Right around $26k.

A nice 2nd Gen can be had for $15k. 2005-2009 years.

not when I was shopping around, and many folks have also stated the same, for a few grand more they are getting a new 3rd gen over a decent 14/15. But where you live also plays a role in used vehicle costs.

old man emu, nitrocharger shocks, darkar leaf springs, bbs wheels, access tonneau cover, laufen AT 275/65/18,
With a fixed apr and a 25 /30 yr loan for a home less than $200k $736 mortgage is very likely. It might not include HOA fee or taxes, insurance...
