Don't neglect your legs. Biggest muscles in the body. Burns a lot of cals.

Cycle for your heart, squat for your legs!

Ancient compared to the rest of you I guess is what @dwalden is saying. But I’m 33.... not sure how ancient that is. But I’m pretty positive I’m up there with @SLO/TACO speaking of........ where has he been?

Honestly, don't worry about your numbers. When I stopped caring about how much I lifted, I felt better. My body didn't hate me and my mind didn't hate me. It's not about how big you are or how strong. It's about how you feel and look. Just do you. I stopped all the heavy lifting and my body changed dramatically. I hired a PT that focused on building my back and my body has changed immensely. I had a PT for powerlifting before this last PT and had better numbers than most (except bench). I am not suggesting a PT, I am just saying what my journey has been.

Again, do whatever you want to do. But, it's not about the numbers. Don't let people make you think you are this or that because you can only lift this much. :militarypress::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Congrats man. I got married this past Saturday and my best advice is get in great shape before the wedding because for two weeks around the wedding you're gunna eat and drink and not workout.

Ask me how I know :anonymous:

    Agreed.

I've learned to take things slow and appreciate where I'm at.

I started in January being able to bench the bar, now I'm at 225 for reps easily. I've gained close to 10lbs of muscle in 7-8 months.

    Pretty bad ass for me.

Thats also why I have zero plans to compete. Competition takes the enjoyment out of the workout.

I have a strength coach whos helped me tremendously. Having good motivation helpsa lot.

I completely disagree. Yes comp is tough when you’re getting ready but I’m having more fun right now than normal. The only
Part Im not enjoying is making sure I stay in my weight class which for me means no fucking off on the weekend. During the week I’m too tired to stay up and eat like shit anyways.

Doubting this "for reps easy" thing...your max is only 255. If you can't get 225x10+ then it ain't easy brother.

x2. Just had my 2 yr anniversary a few weeks ago. Lifting dropped dramatically around the wedding due to how busy we were. I got down to 180 lbs for the wedding and I vowed never to be that light again. I hated how small I looked, although my wife loved it. I feel much more comfortable around 200+

Enjoy those newb gainz because after year one, it gets cut in half.

According to the 1rm calculator, with a 255 max, he should be able to rep 225 no more than 5-6 times. I guess that counts as "for reps."

On a similarly related note, I find that 1rm calculator to be pretty darn accurate...at least for bench. I always determine what I'm going to try on max depending on how many times I can get 315. Last time I tried, I got 315x4, which puts my estimated 1rm at 344. I got 340 easily, but couldn't get 345. Now, I can get 315x5, so I should be able to get 354x1, but I'm not trying again for another few weeks. I'm hoping I'll be at 315x6 by then, which will put me at a 366 1rm.

For squats and deads, I don't think it's as accurate (for me) because I get fatigued so easily because those 2 lifts are way more taxing on the body than bench press. Ex.: I can squat 405x1, which says I should be able to do 315x9, but I can only get 315x6.

I only concern myself with those of equal size and strength. Basically just @dwalden2 He's what gets me out of bed every morning...and back in at night;)
