Threads like this intrigue me. Not bashing, but why are people so worried about "driving too much"? I'm curious as to peoples' reasons.

I drive quite a but I guess, 59xxx km on my 2009 so far.

Vehicles arent investments. And besides, the recalls already took care of some of that depreciation, imo.

If you don't consider your vehicle an investment that fine, but to many, like myself, they definitely are... You probably aren't doing yourself any favors with that mentality.

I realize that when I sell it the truck will be worth less that when I bought it, but I'd prefer to not accelerate that rate of decline...

    52K on my 2006.

I thought investing was aimed at making money on an initial purchase. A car is worth less than you bought it as soon as you drive it off the lot. I understand your idea of reducing the depreciation by keeping low mileage, but don't see a car purchase as an investment. Then again, I don't look too much into finances, I'd rather drive/ride. But to each his own.

63k on my 06. I bought it new in Nov. of 06 so I've only had it 41 months. So thats a little over 1500 miles a month. All mine come from trips to the lake in the summer as I only drive 14 miles to work round trip m-f. I understand what you mean about putting miles on your truck. I sometimes think I should buy something to drive m-f then my truck on the weekends, but I bought my truck because I wanted something reliable to drive. Afterall I did buy it knowing I'm going to have it for 10+ years so whether it has 150k or 200k it really doesn't matter because its been well taken care of and will last that long.

So you'll have enough money to replace the truck without worrying about depreciation? Sweet!
