This just defeats the purpose of a RTT in my opinion. You're still pretty much on the ground and that can be done with a cheap Walmart tent and $50 of wood.

Very true. But I do like that you can unhook it from the truck and go run a trail. Great for a trip where there is a base camp established. As long as it doesn’t get ripped off the hitch on the way to camp.

Mounted them knockoffs

Used the same method with the angle but instead of bolts I welded hitch pins and used cotter pins and a small lock that fit inside the pins.
