Definitely a different issue for me on 1.02b - I understand the more linear and smooth VVT feeling less punchy. I flashed back b/c I was trying to get on the interstate and throttle was super heavy, acceleration to speed became a struggle - similar to the way it drove on the original Toyota calibration I had where I had to floor it to downshift and accelerate. I'm just glad we have access to multiple versions and the capability to pull over, take 5, and be on our way without having to ever degrade to that stock bs these trucks shipped with!

1.01b still treating me like a dream though while I await the big C drop coming up! :) and Mat's been awesome to work with!

Yep 04B10 and running 1.01b, probably leave it that way until a dedicated M/T tune comes out. I suppose at some point while Mat is picking through our stock tunes he may discover what changes Toyota made that warranted an updated version code (or not).

I'm in the same boat. I'm hoping he gets it to us this afternoon, we get him our stock ECU tonight, and tomorrow comes our 1.02C. OVT is playing his cards right!

Serial data has been sent over to the developer.

I'm also working on a few other fine tuned changes to 1.02C. No details yet but I think this will be a smooth transition.

Some of this will port direct to the MT.

Bring your laptop! If he sends it while youre on your trip, you can seriously pull over and let it flash while you fill up. It’s that quick.

Once he has provided the 87 tune, i plan to do this as well just in case i need to switch tunes in places where 91 gas may not be available.

This thread grows like crazy and I don't get a chance to catch up very often. My 2 cents.

I think many of the low speed drivability issues are due to torque converter lockup. If the torque converter simply were prevented from locking up at speeds under say 45mph, everything would seem much smoother. When I'm going 35 and need to get to 40, I don't need a full downshift, I need the torque converter to slip a bit, like every other car out there and give me a few hundred more revs. I don't need the transmission in 5th gear with the engine lugging at 1100rpm. Without the torque converter locking on every shift, it'll also feel less busy. And this is just flat lame, we know that Toyota invented the torque managed shift with the original Lexus LS400. They've deliberately left it out because idiots at focus groups wanted it to "feel like a truck", I want to hear that engine struggle, exhaust boom and feel every single shift.

You're absolutely right. I mentioned this to Mat about 2 months ago in direct email.

I received the engine and transmission tunes just before midnight last night. Got them installed a couple hours ago and went for a quick 7 mile test drive. A few things i noticed, when I drove the truck in reverse out of my garage it no longer jerked while I braked in reverse. It shifts smoother and much quicker in drive. It doesn't feel so bogged down. ECT power mode was a blast, it accelerates and pulls so quick now. It was so quick that it was kind of scary having such a large (DCLB), heavy truck accelerate like that. I'll drive it to work tomorrow (26 miles) and see what it's like on a longer drive.

Edit: Let me add that I'm running 93 octane and have a Magnaflow catback exhaust system.

The first time I ran tuned etc the truck was basically stock and I wasn't carrying my tools in the bed. Honestly it scared me.

Braking is significantly improved with 1.02, almost like the engine isn't driving forward as you're trying to brake, more precise.

Anyone not on the newest Toyota revision gets a transmission file for 1.02 to avoid stuttering.

I did, I had the 04B02 Toyota calibration. I don't have Toyota's latest stock transmission calibration.

I feel it is, in traffic braking behind another car I can modulate and don't get jerked around, making it easier to stop behind them without worrying about poking them.
