Mine was built in Tijuana Mexico.I guess some are built in Tijuana Mexico and some in San Antonio Texas. If I knew this before I bought I would of been checking door jams for a Texas built truck.Ya I know Im weird, but I dont think I would of found one here in So.Cal. anyway.

There's no appreciable difference between the 2 plants making these things.

for what its worth from what I've found on here the Mexico built ones are having the same if not less problems than the US built ones. And they're just assembled. Still the same parts. Wouldn't doubt a lot of the things like engines, trans etc come pre assembled and they just install it.

Mines from texas, simple its much closer to ship to canada from texas than mexico. so pretty sure all canadian ones are texas.

All access cabs and Pro's are built in TX.

Some double cabs and (possibly, not sure) all manual transmission vehicles are TX built.

Glad mine was built in TX, the reason being that the workers who built it are paying US taxes, and supporting US families.

I always look for and buy made in US whenever possible, simply because my sense of it is someone like me is supporting their family producing it.

It is all about jobs from my perspective.

From what I have read, the Baja trucks have no discernable differences in quality.

My friend and I were both working construction, both driving S10's, and both of our trucks crapped out the same time, in 1997.

He bought a Tacoma, I bought a Dakota.

I remember thinking "traitor", buying a Japanese truck, I would never do that!

Well he traded his in in 2015, and mine lasted a whole year longer- victory!

Except his had 400k miles and I had only 200k, lol. Both trucks still had the original clutches fwiw.

At trade in, he got $3,000 for his, I got $1000 for mine.

Both our trucks were made in the US.

He now drives a Suburban, I drive a Taco.

Not sure where his was built......

My DCLB OR was built in TX. I read a story about the Mexico plant is still an assembly line and trucks are still built by human hands while the TX plant is all automated.

I don't disagree with your idea at all. I would gladly buy something made here in Canada and support our economy. But I hate the domestics that are made here or any domestic for that matter. In all honesty though I wish the taco was still made in Japan. Just think it would be better built for some reason.

But regardless not much is made in Canada anymore, especially not Ontario as our provincial govt has fucked up with electricity prices after privatizing the whole sector. But we seem to export a shit load of raw material for everyone to build stuff haha. A lot of aluminum comes from Canada, and we do a lot of metal recycling.

I work in the construction industry, I see a lot of "made in Canada" every day.

And, in fact, Tacoma was never made in Japan, fwiw

I did a tour at the TX plant. You're exactly right. Mostly done by machines.

And I think for my line of electrical, Hubbel which makes device boxes etc is all Canadian made. But for the most part a lot seems to be chinese now days.

Yes, lumber and plywood. A lot is also made in the US though.

The stuff coming from China is really sketchy imo.

ya anything wood will come from Canada but that's about it for the most part.
All our hardware whether it be nuts and bolts or screws and strut clips all seem to be chinese and its all garbage.
Robertson screws used to be known for the fact they don't strip easy and they seem to hold on the driver no problem. But the new ones are shit. and they aren't even a proper red roberston, its somewhere in between a black and red. so they strip constantly.

A lot of the stuff from china is so cheap. Even the light fixtures we're getting now days are just such cheap shitty housings.
