All part of the plan, already researched & picked out my gearing. Just need to be financially ready for it.. Ill be fine to run 35s for a few months while I save up a bit, that part im not worried about.

The original plan was to run 37s but christ thats a lot of work. Even with a 6" lift it would be super involved

They are absolutely terrible in mud and rain. Ride rough and were loud. On road they aren't bad beside noise and rain and in all fairness most all terrain suck with rain.

Aside from noise which I find is identical to the ko2 the duratrac have been great. Fabulous on rock. Great on road even rain. No aqua planing. Decent when covered in mud.

A few of the work trucks (f150) for the company I used to work with have the ko2s and I hate driving them. And almost got into three different accidents in the past with work vans with the same tires because they would aqua plane so easily.
And they sucked on my Jeep.

Driving a year with that same cargo van was enough ko2 for me. Given I daily drive no way I'm buying something that bad on road. I will give them credit though they have great wear.

All my experience with them was terrible and I wasn't even paying for them. If they were cheaper maybe but at their cost there's much better on the market

I would say save up for all of it. Without gears your speed and mpg will be terrible.

Dan the guy with the Jeep that came to Minden couldn't even do 90km if there was a head wind when he went to 33 because the factory gearing was for a 29" tire

I get 18.5MPG highway right now with 33s, ive got no problem really anywhere with reaching speed/accelerating. Only time I really notice it is steep hills on the highway, have to put my foot through the floor/wait till the trans kicks in to gain speed. No hills on our neck of the 401 so its not a huge issue with highway driving. I cant imagine adding another 2" to my tires is gonna make me drop to 15mpg and have hell on earth break lose with my trans shifting, I thought that with the jump to 33s and I only lost .5 MPG.

I believe 2nd gens are geared for 30-31" tires (as far as my old stock tires went anyways). Ive read about a lot of people who dont even really notice the power loss unless under extreme circumstances/trying to gun it after a red light, will have to see how things go I guess. Still want a bumper/flippac/winch/upgraded suspension/breathers/fj t-case which is atleast $9000 worth of shit just right there.. lol gotta be realistic

Dood, update? I just row my own lol...dontcha miss a lil of the third pedal? You're from that space, so I know ya like it. Right out of the gate you get a 8.5 third member with a 4.3 ratio vs 8.0 third with 3.9...right there is your big tyre gear issue in perfect compromise...

What kind of jeep was it? Mine was a base model JK with 3.21 gears and came with 29s. It was fine to drive everyday with 33" km2s. All day long at 110. Had to downshift if it was a steep enough hill but it was manual so no problems.

I won’t have them on for the trip. I need to regear really bad as it is and with the 35’s I’ll smoke my tranny. Your more than welcome to come my way and try them on. I have them sitting in the garage waiting to be installed.
I have the tools we can test fit them. You will be cutting...

Honestly I'm not sure if they were knock offs or something then. Cause I do hear people say they are ok but dude I legit was ready to pay for new tires for it I hated them. They would constantly fuckin hydroplane with the slightest amount of rain.

But even the ones on the f150s are crappy to me. I think they are a fine tire of a full set was around 900-1000 but considering most sets are about 1500 it's just too much for what they are.

I find with almost all BFG tires though they do one thing well then suck everywhere else. When I had the BFG g force kdw on my Subaru they were fuckin great in the rain but whatever everywhere else.

I really wish Michelin made a good all terrain as I've always found they're expensive but make great tires.

I'm thinking of hard wiring in the compressor into the engine bay and having the tank as a removable attachment in the rear somewhere.... What do you guys think?

Did you see me get held back by my tires? Only thing I can complain about is when it's wet I can't floor it or I'll spin the tires.... But not anymore than my old caravan did. Hey @Joe23 are you positive they were the ko2's and not the original ko?

Do the guys with 285's feel any loss of power? My next set I was thinking of moving up just for the added clearance.

Stock but with a Warn 10s winch Used to be a lightly modded Tacoma
Larger tire/wheel size will always result in a loss of power. Tacomas have marginal power to begin with, even empty, so if you have a truck set up for overland purposes that is carrying a lot of extra weight, losing gearing is going to make it perform like the dead dog it is. Life is a compromise though, and lots of guys don't care about loss of power as long as the truck looks cool and has functionality besides performance. Also, you usually build your truck incrementally over many years and you get used to the fact that a kid on a mountain bike can beat you away from a light, or haul up a hill better than you can.

    I value acceleration. That's why I hadn't bought 285's yet. I think I'll stick to 265.
