What's this Leer camper top worth

Hey guys, so I found this 3rd gen short bed Leer camper top this morning. He's asking $1,200 with the roof rack and mounts. Doesn't have keys for the locks. Just asked what he take with it. How much do you think it's worth? What you guys have paid for a used one. I'd be doing a color match. Thinking it will cost around 300ish for that. I'll update once he tells me the model. 1200 isn't bad if you don't have to color match. The trick to selling these things is finding a buyer who doesn't have to... which gives you a bit of an advantage because they're hard to find.

I would buy that for $1200 bucks all in, so subtracting the color match of $300 I'd offer him $900.

 

Offer him 700. Then negotiate. The locks and paint would be an issue for me. Wouldn't pay more than 850. IMO.

 

Windoors are a huge plus if you want them. No keys though, I'd go around 900 - 1000 tops. Tell him time is money and scraping off deer stickers is worth at least $200 off.

 

You can get keys for 10 bucks a piece. Just go to any dealer. That's what I did. They can even match the lock code or serial number from dealers offline also....still 10 bucks a piece

 

Oh yeah! Gotta have the windows for the dogs and camping. Definitely worth $200 for sticker removal!

 

I agree with everyone above..... That's a great camper shell but color matching is not worth it for 1200. You have to also consider your time into the project to go get it painted etc. $900 tops

 

How does someone NOT have the keys for such a new item?
I would guess that setup new would cost around $1800-2100 depending on how much they shopped around and options.
$800-1000 would be reasonable because you still have to color mach. IMHO.

Edit: it looks like a Leer 100R (based off of the rear window style) with Windoors and a Thule aero blade rack.

 

It would be like finding a unicorn for sandstorm color match within a 4 hour drive of me. I've never been able to find a top on tacomaworld is near me. I'm just guessing $300 would be the cost to paint it.

I paid 1200 for my LEER Legend brand new. I say pass. The locks would be a deal breaker for me.

 

Rack is about a $500 option, Windoors are about $500 too. That on top of the base price of the shell $1500ish....

I just bought an ARE CX with Rack and Windoors, Sliding Front Tilt Glass and it was ~$2600...


Sure, you can get an awesome deal for a cap on a truck that has been around for awhile, but the third gen is too new. I think that's a good price even if you got to paint it. If you can get it for less.... even better.

 

Are the racks and basket included? If so then grab it and run!

 

Yea I would offer a few hundred less but ultimately that's a good deal. Mine was 2400 new with windows, carpeted interior, pop out window, and Thule roof rack. If you can get him down to around $1k you're getting a solid deal

I agree of the rack comes with it if offer $1000. If I wanted this set up I'd pay the $1200 and paint if it was final price because new this would be about $2200.

 

Not having keys and not knowing what model he has suggests that he just came upon this and is trying to get what he can for it. I'm not sure, but it seems like there is a lot of bar sticking out each side. Almost like it's three different

Is this a craigslist post where you can get some idea how long he's had this for sale? If this was just listed, don't expect him to come down much.

With at least 3 Toyota dealers in that area, this will sell. White is not an uncommon color (think work truck).

If you show up in a newer truck with steps, aftermarket wheels & tires, you're probably showing what cards are in your hand so to speak. Show up with what you are willing to pay (in cash, just research the area first) and someone who can help you set it on the bed, nobody else. If it doesn't show any cracks, make an offer. Tops for older models go for more than $1200.

 

I paid $700 for one that matched. He also didn't have keys and I bought a new t handle for $30. I would have paid more for the roof rails for sure. I think the price is somewhat fair IF it matched. I wouldn't pay $1200 for a non matching top regardless of what is on it. The painting will be expensive.

 

Idea on the price to have painted.... I'd probably paint myself, but not everyone has that option.
