there is a right way, the butyl dedeadning is designed to adhere directly to sheetmetal to reduce vibrations

I stand corrected ;) What I mean by "no right way" in my sense is that I did it my way, it worked really really well - so while there is a cleaner (and more "correct") way to do it, I'm super happy w/ the results! To each their own, but sounds like if you have the time and patience adhering it all to the metal would be ideal!

I did notice where most of the plastic is in an open area so there wouldn't be much to adhere to anyway. my wife took the truck to take our girls to dance and tumbling so I haven't tested it yet but she said she likes it. She was walking my daughter into tumbling and she said a guy said " Is that your mazda?":rofl:She started laughing telling me this. "No, its my husband's Tacoma!" She went on to tell I let her drive to try out the new speakers.

I've never given much thought to it, but if you have the stock OR grill like I do, I could see where it may look similar to a mazda styling if you weren't looking really close. ...I'm reaching. haha

haha. I don't have a build page but... BAMF front grille, rigid fogs w/ amber covers, @Mobtown Offroad sliders, and a 2.5" lift courtesy of ADS, Fox, and the wonderful Marie at @HeadStrong Off-Road! Mazda WTF! We all spend way to much money on our trucks to be mistaken for a mazda. Forgot, new sound system brought to you by @bshammer0

Ha! yeah, with those mods that guy should be tortured for mistaking it for a Mazda. sounds like a nice ride. I haven't touched suspension yet, but my Taco wallet has been hit hard with all of the mods I have done! fun hobby though to trickle it over time with some good projects!

We bought a big house, lots of projects, etc., and my wife was the one who actually suggested I get back into a truck. She helped instigate the Taco addiction and still just laughs at me, and when we go somewhere it's always my truck she wants to ride in. Plus I send her these posts where folks smash their Taco into a wall going fast and walk away with scratches and she feels safe :)

One thing to note is the plastic in question here is designed specifically as a vapor barrier. It is a good idea to carefully remove and then replace the vapor barrier when adding butyl matting, making regulator repairs, etc.

I have an SR5 with Entune Plus (older looking 6" HU with Scout GPS) and installed the tweeters. They sound great! As others have mentioned they sound so good that I noticed the lack of sound coming from the rest of the speakers so I bought the 4 Kicker speakers from crutchfield to replace them. I will be doing the install within the next week so I will report back. From what I gathered the 6" HU provides similar, if not the same, power output so I am assuming the upgrade will work just as well for us SR/SR5 guys!

Just did the Kicker tweeter replacement and WOW i was amazed how easy it was. My 10mm gearwrench really came in handy at getting to the bolts closest to winshield. I think i was done in 25-minutes
I will be installing the other 4 Kicker speakers next week (i work all weekend) and going to add some Noico sound deadener to doors.
My initial reaction after turning on the stereo after the Kicker tweeters "WOW there's the treble up front i never heard before" ... BIG difference and i'm sure once i get the other 6x9 and 6 3/4 Kickers installed it will sound even better.

Been there done that, they are typically more frustration than anything as you have to hold it on the head of the bolt. But here is one place that is indispensable.

Ok so i just took a drive in my truck after the Kicker tweeter install. I like to listen to XM Radio and had it on XM 25 Classic Rewind, the song Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out by Bruce Springsteen came on and WOW the high notes sounded incredible coming through the new tweeters ... i am really happy with the new tweeters, big improvement for sure
