Do people give you crap about driving a Toyota truck?

I just got my first Tacoma. 2006 4X4 D-Cab sport pkg. I love this truck and was very excited when I got it. Went to work and got a bunch of crap from my boss. The guy told me that I should start parking in the back corner of our lot. We only have six cars in our lot (small company). He claims that if a potential customer sees my truck that they will not want to do business with us. What a bunch of bullshit!! We are a small manufacturing company, and have nothing to do with any automotive manufacturing so I just don’t get it. Not sure how to handle this and was just wondering if any of you guys have dealt with something similar to this because you drive a foreign truck.

First of all, you do not drive a foreign truck. It was most likely made in California, or maybe mexico. Second, he is just giving you crap because he's jealous.

 

agree... and i get crap about my truck @ the firehouse. i just laugh and and keep my head high about my truck.

 

He drives a chevy colorado.

 

I've got to get to the trees somehow...I still get crap from the prius/bike to work crowd about having a truck...ask them if they eat meat and how they feel about deforestation!

thats exactly why i asked what he drove... the jealousy factor... after 60,000 miles his truck is toast

 

That is really odd... all I can think of is... it isn't an american company. But, they do make some tacomas in the US. Ignorant people imo.

 

I just get the "Nice Terrorist truck" but im in the army so 90% of the day is talking crap to one another. But yeah if your boss isnt kidding that sucks,I assume its because its non-american. Tacoma's are Assembled in the states so its not like they hurt the economy by buying a non-american car. Unless all your customers are coming in with White Hoods and Fords I dont think its gonna hurt business.

I had a guy I work with run me shit about driving a Yota..he told me to buy American and blah blah blah and that it wasn't patriotic of me to buy foreign. I said really?? My Uncle happens to be a vet and so is my father and they both own toyotas...I dare ya to go tell them their un patriotic cause they'd knock your fuckin head off and then hand your ass to you in a paper sack...Then I said okay, go home and take your TV, DVD Player, Stereo, Coffee Maker and basically everything else he owned and to throw it away caue all that shit was made in a diff. country!!...I mean if were gonna buy "American" lets fuckin take it seriously!

I catch shit from co-workers. Does not really bother me. I say well I made it to paradise(work) in it today.

 

i work union construction in boston and some guys will give me shit from time to time about my "foreign" taco and then i ask what they drive and its usually an american truck but then you ask what their wife drive and 7/10 times its a foreign make... people just tuck their heads so far up their own ass they starve their brain of oxygen and cant really think
