Did all six speakers and the Dynamat this past weekend, well worth it and am super happy with the sound. Others have said it but the speakers that came from the factory are just about the lightest, thinnest pieces of crap imaginable. It’s nice to be able to clearly hear and discern what’s going on in a song. XM dounds great, HD radio even better. Again, thanks @bshammer0 for getting us all started!

Congrats on the install! Always funny to hear people's reactions to the cheap upgrade (and the cheap-as-hell stock speakers)! Enjoy

To all those that have done the sound deadening...I plan to use the 80mil Noico stuff from Amazon. Do any of yall see a problem with the door panel fitting correctly over the 80 mil stuff??
    Thanks.

What tweeters did you get? I'm looking into upgrading this part first

You can just flatten it a little more near the mounting locations if you're having an issue, its a very soft material... but I doubt you will have any issues.

OK, it’s time for an update. I had some time to get out and drive my truck and listen to the radio with my wife. On second thought, the difference with just adding the tweeters is just crazy. I would say almost night and day. My wife is hearing impaired but she noticed the difference and couldn’t believe it. I’m loving it and for me the tweeters are good enough where I may not upgrade the others. It is a shame because for a few extra bucks Toyota could have made our listening experience so much better.

:D:D:D yeahhh 80mil minus 50mil .... that would be 30mil thicker which equals .03 of an inch .... or 1/32 of an inch

I'm sure the speakers will work, but I know the Kicker tweeters that these guys are using WILL NOT work on a 2nd Gen without serious modification. I know because I bought some for my 2014 to see. Now I'm gonna have to sell them.

    A couple things
Finally got a chance to install my speakers. I’ve had them sitting around for a week. I also went with the Subaru Kicker tweeters in the dash, and the Kicker CS series in the doors.

For the roughly 2 bills I spent on this....WOW! No deadener used either. More bass response than I expected, crystal clean sound. I may still end up with one of the small powered underseat type subs, but I’m not sure it’s really needed at this point.

If you’re still on the fence about this.

For the record, and I think the weight is in the plastic housing, stock front door speaker comes in at a whopping 10 1/4 ounces...

Stock head unit but I just put in an alpine power pack and they’re amazing. They were kind of quiet with just the stock head unit but after the power pack they’re crazy loud
