Ahh ok, that's strange then. I know I get a sound from the leafs springs occasionally but not sure if that's the same kind of sound.

 

I did for 2-3 months with no issues. I did refuse to offroad though with that set up; didn't trust the gears to no break in the rocky terrain of KY/TN

 

This sounds like what is going on with mine as well. Let me know how it goes when you get it done.

 

To be more specific, I'm thinking about going with 285/75/17s, which is more like a 34. They seem to weigh about 10 pounds less than a 35 in most sizes I've been looking at.

I have a yeti 65. I put a 20 lb bag of ice in it without pre cooling it and drove from washington to vegas to grand canyon. 3 days all over 100 degrees. Regular draining and my ice was all gone by the time I got to the Grand canyon

 

I used Brian's pelican that week, and the ice was lasting about 2-3 days as well. Over 100+ in the truck bed and only opening once a day. My basic igloo for drinks would use 2 bags of ice a day. I started with dry ice, and it lasted about a day and a half.

Also, you arent supposed to drain the water because it gives a larger solid volume of cold mass *pushes glasses up*

 

Yeah but you don't even get the thrill of worrying about whether your ARB fridge will let your car start in the morning.

 

What.... I totally thought the water melts the ice

Nah man, nah. Air is the enemy of coolers. General rule of thumb is to only drain when you're replenishing ice.

As for 100 degrees, I assume, in the back of a truck. Yep, that'll melt your ice. That's why ARB makes those cute little jackets for their fridges. The sun will rape your ice, or your wine, whatever people store in fridges.

Definitely pre-chill your cooler. I put two bags of ice and fill the cooler with cold water before emptying and putting new ice and my food/drinks in. I use block ice now too. I was actually able to just re-use my block ice a couple of times this year, that's how well my yeti did.

 

Correction: I have an Orca. Works like a beast and seals like a mfer. I researched extensively before grabbing it and I'm really happy with my choice.
