Aren't taxes and insurance worse in Ct than ri?

 

How are taxes calculated on cars in ri?

Getting the bmw inspected today. I now have a year to figure out what to do on all the cars

 

I have my FJ registered in MA... Inspection has been expired for almost 2 years. It definitely doesn't pass

I plan on keeping it in MA, or just register in Florida...

 

Every city/town in RI has different taxes.

My city is one of the worst. Only $500 taken off of the vehicles value, then taxed $46 per $1000 of the value.

Woonsocket estimates my Taco is worth $15,400, and I was taxed $718

Nicer cities will take off $6k off of the value before taxing it.

It looks like Warwick takes $1500 off of the value before taxing it, then it's $34.60 per $1000

In your case it would probably be easier to do Maine

 

Maine requires inspection.

I believe Mass only taxes $25 per $1000 on vehicles.

 

Yea if you register it in another state to avoid tax, your looking at at least $500 in fines in Ma if someone bothers/can prove you are registering it elsewhere (even another city to avoid tax) You cant really be cited for uninspected in MA if you have an out of state plate. As our state cannont enforce other states laws. However some states like RI? Will cancel your registration for uninspected.

You could in RI, but eventually they'll pull the registration. No inspection required on vehicles less than 2 years or 24k miles.

 

Never heard of anything but I don't deal with insurance. I supposed if something in the vehicle failed that resulted in an accident they may try to weasel out. I'm not sure they would be successful.

If something fails on the vehicle or is MOD related and it causes injury to another person you can be held negligent. Assuming you knew or should have known. Although that doesn't matter if your inspected or not, no crappy lift kits.

 

I'll check out the thread, but interested. Already have a gallon, but wouldn't be against kicking in on a 5 gallon. Now the real question, how far from treehouse are you?
