Wheel Bearing Assembly: whats this shreaded piece of metal i found????

    Some Stuff...
    In the process of swapping out a hub/ bearing assembly and found this inside after pulling the old one.. its in pieces and has a bungee/ elastic feeling to it. Not sure where it came from or its general purpose. Any help is appreciated thanks....

    Kings, 275/70/17, a few custom items, lots of Meso mods.
    That looks like the spring that's inside the lip of a seal to keep pressure on a rotating shaft. Is your seal missing it?

    No i have one on the seal and its undamaged.

    Perhaps they placed two on it and the retard that installed it didnt catch it?

    Yep it's part of the seal
    I came across that too when I did mine
    Had to replace the seal
    It's part of the seal but can come out or break easily even if seal is still there
    Compare it to your other side
    I think it was the seal that's on the spindle

    I had 2 axle seals on my Silverado 2500 HD when I replaced it. Stranger things happen.

    Ok. I have a new seal im just gona clean things up and replace. Theres two of these rings on my new one. One per side.

    Lets see what the old ones got..

    Q: i need to apply grease within the spindle housing for the hub assembly, and on yhe splines of the cv axle correct before reassembling everything, correct?

    First time.. forgive my noobness.

    Annd im tracking 67 lbs for the 4 assembly bolts to the spindle.

    173 lbs for the axle nut.

    10lbs for speed sensor

    Annnd 91lbs for the calipers..

    Unless theres a missprint
