The older ones aren't too bad. Most parts weren't any more expensive than my Tacoma and they are fairly easy to work on. Up through the E46 at least.

Fuck Vanos. This has been my day. We broke two 55 torx bits trying to get the exhaust cam sprockets loose. We're getting three more tomorrow.

Work wasn't that bad but I get irritated when two diy guides (204 pages for one and 115 pages for another) keep messing up the number of bolts that actually hold shit on. Remove 6 bolts. Pry to save your life. Take a smoke break. Go look again and find out its 10 bolts.

But good news, I ordered my scs f5 black 16*8-25 blems today. Now to figure out tires and tire sizes :annoyed:

I suppose I should have specified... the straight 6 isn't too bad. I refuse to touch their V8s.

Really the v8 hasn't been bad. Biggest problems have been poor directions and broken tools. One torx bit separated from the socket and another shattered.

That doesn't sound too terrible. Do you have the Bentley manual? I've considered getting another BMW someday. I sold the last one to help buy a second house.

Yeah, Bentley plus some guides from Pelican and bimmerfest I think. Not my car. The parts weren't too pricey but the bullshit specialized tools added up quick

Yes the tools add up and I let mine go with the car. My next car depends on where the Air Force sends me after Korea.

The manager of the site I support has an older 750ish series and its the biggest piece of shit. It's always broken and he will say " I cant dump it now, ive replaced everything so nothing else can break"

    FALSE

I walked out to see half of this car looking like someone heated the springs to drop it, but it has electronic air ride. This is 3 times after its been "fixed" now.

This right here is the most intelligent piece of information that has ever came from you. Youre growing up Nick, im so proud. Dont fuck it up ok?

Did you just compare a BMW to a Toyota?
I think this is grounds for a ban around here and possibly a public flogging.

I was only comparing the cost of parts, and specifically for the E46 and earlier model's. Although, I have owned 6 of each, so I could probably do an interesting comparison.

So, after some discussion with a buddy who has been riding all his life and his suggestion, he convinced me that a naked style bike would be a better start over the YZF-R3. I am really in love with the KTM Duke 390, anyone have any experience with KTM and their road going bikes?

That is the exact one I want. How many miles have you put on it so far?

Edit, what does your insurance look like on it?
