I went back towards lost lake. Didn't see any signs saying anything was closed

Updated closure list only has the 70 and 72 roads on it, so I guess all of Stampede should be open. Definitely can't come in from the Greenwater side though.

Yeah I read most FS roads along the 410 corridor are still closed especially the 70.

There was a long list, but they were all side roads off the 70 and 72. Everything on the south side seems to be open. Got snowed on a few times up there yesterday.

I use Google Maps and alternate between terrain and aerial view and just start following roads. I star potential camp sites or places to explore then if I'm really high speed I will use Gaia GPS and find the sites and mark them in there.

I use Google Maps to take me to the trail and then Gaia from then on for navigation.

Like look at this map of Stampede Pass area...Lots of stuff to explore.

I'm thinking of going with the Garmin inReach Explorer+ with the GAIA App on my Ipad. Blutooth the GPS to the Ipad and call it good. Since I have a 1yr old daughter, I am kinda hooked on having the SOS capability in the OFF chance something goes wrong with her, for help. There is a GB going on too. Just trying to do some homework since back east, I went to offroad parks where you cant really get "lost" and there are always people passing by. Here there seems to be a ton more "make your own adventure" which is great...as long as I don't get lost with a baby haha (mainly for family camping also). I just don't like PAYING for a stupid monthly plan to use a damn GPS that I just paid a good chunk of cash for. That's the issue I'm wrestling with right now. . .

The National Forest roads and trails are all online. For example: https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/mbs/maps-pubs/?cid=stelprdb5160280

You should be able to find the Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) for whatever ranger district you're interested in online. You can also check trail/road conditions from the websites, for example: https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/mbs/alerts-notices/?cid=stelprdb5126323

On that last link, you'd click on the main highway for information on roads/trails that branch off of that highway.

Once I've figured out an area I'll compare the road with a Gazetteer or satellite images for more info. If I'm on the road and going into a new area I'll try and stop by the local ranger station to pick up a hard copy of the MVUM (they're free). You can also ask for current conditions. Between that and the Gazetter I don't usually have problems and can usually get by when I don't have internet access.

I was just reading on these after watching the latest YouTube video of Mountain State Overland. I'm contemplating one linked to a tablet as well.

There's a full set of blems available right now. That's where most people get their deals on SCS. The blems are rarely even noticable at all! Especially for offroad trucks like ours, you'll never know.

Edit: sorry they're gone now. But keep your eyes peeled here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/scs-blemished-wheels.264466/
