ARB Bumper and Winch leveling

    So, I put on an OME suspension about a year ago and got the 885s with sport struts and a heavy dakar leaf spring set for the rears. Immediately liked the ride and the reasonable lift it provided. However, about 1 month ago I saw a great deal on here and decided I really must have an ARB bumper and winch so that I can take on some more interesting off road challenges.

    Long story short, the extra weight has taken my front end down over an inch and so I'm not happy with the forward rake visually. Ride wise the 885s are holding up fine both on road and off. Anyway, looking for thoughts. Should I just snap on a 1/2 inch toytec spacer on top of the coils and call it a day. Will that result in less comfortable ride on the front end (never had spacers in before and everyone on here seems anti-spacer). Or should I bite the bullet and buy 886 springs and get a mechanic to change them out on the current setup? Or should I just get over the rake issue and leave well enough alone?

    I've started looking at long travel components, it's great when your mind just naturally turns a small issue into a three thousand dollar upgrade haha.

    I'm going to replace my 885s to 887s soon, tired of rubbing and it will do fine until I can get my hands on long travel. Never spacers

    You'll have no problem selling your 885s on here, to help offset the cost of new springs.

    I thought the 886 were for the ARB plus winch to give you the ride height of the 886?

    The 887 would likely put you higher than you were before you did the ARB / winch.

    My understanding is the 887 is same lb spring as the 885, whereas the 886 is about 80 lbs heavier. I'm going to try to the 886 springs I think. I'll have to try a mechanic though, I can't seem to get my LCAs free to drop out the strut assembly, spent a few hours at it today pissing myself off. If anyone has any good tips on the lcas with frozen rusted in cams and crap bushings that'd be welcome too. Toyota told me they'd cut the entire LCA assembly off and have to replace the whole thing at a cost of ~$2500 if I wanted to change the bushings and cams :confused:.

    It came in decent on the alignment then, not off enough that it would cause any excessive or unusual tire wear so I didn't make a big deal out of it.

    OK, well, I sure wouldn't pay the dealer $2500. Do your research, collect all the parts and break out the sawzall.

    - Total Chaos 3.5 Long travel kit - Fox 2.5 coilovers w/ resis -Prerunner bumper -Fiberglass front fenders -Fiberwerx tt bedsides - Dmz Sua - fox 2.5x16 triple bypasses
    You would notice a night and day difference after going with some coilovers (fox, king, icon, sway away) with the proper spring rate for your bumper.

    I would think hard about if you would actually use long travel, its a rabbit hole and theres a lot more to it than just bolting on the kit. Stock replacement coilovers ride amazing imo. Just depends on your use.

    886s is the way to go. They're 660lb coils as opposed to 590lb like the 883,884,885, and 887s are. For the seized cam tabs, all I can recommend is to soak, soak, and soak some more with PB blaster. Do it multiple times a day for a few days, and see if they helps. Some people get lucky and that's all you need, whereas some people need to cut them out.
