I've searched around but just can't find an answer to this...

Truck is a 2012 TRO V6 4x4, stock sat radio without nav. Phone is a cheap Samsung Galaxy Express Prime go-phone (I'm not a 'phone guy' so this works fine for me).

I've paired the phone with the truck no problem for the first time today. My stupid question is this.... how do I get the phone to reconnect with the trucks bluetooth after getting back in the truck?

As it is now I have to go back into setup, choose phone setup, choose select phone, select my phone, and then it reconnects. There's no easier way?

    Thanks.

On my '13 once the device has been paired with the truck once, and if it doesnt connect when the bluetooth is on, on your phone and you get back in the truck, mine has a button that says connect on the bluetooth screen on the radio and you can select the device that you can make it pair with. Mine normally connects automatically, but sometimes i have to take this approach to make it pair up

In my '12, it usually connects automatically. But when it doesn't I have to kind of "reset" it. Switch it from Bluetooth, to Radio, then back to Bluetooth so it sends the connect signal again.

I switched to iPhone back in 2012, but in settings, is your bluetooth always searching? Maybe try this app if your phone doesn't have the setting...

The issue may be your "go" phone. You may be running a thin version of the OS.

I am somewhat relieved I am not the only one with this problem.. I am at the point where I have stopped pairing my phone because I can't stand the process of doing it every single time of start up. However, my connection for Bluetooth audio (ie: Spotify, Audible, etc) work just fine every time. Watching thread for updates :fingerscrossed:

The truck aside... Does your phone automatically pair with other bluetooth devices - wireless speakers or wireless earbuds? For instance, I have a bluetooth speaker. If I turn its power on, it pairs with my phone. Same for my bluetooth ear buds. Is your phone pairing with other bluetooth devices automatically when they are powered on? Your truck would work the same way.

I have an older iPhone thats been paired with two Toyotas now, the Tacoma currently. Ive always had it pair when I get in and start up, no problems since I first paired. The one issue I do have with it, when I go out of the city and loose service I try to keep it in "airplane" mode. It seems to get very fussy after that. To the point where I have to pull over and turn off the truck, restart the whole pairing process and hope for the best. Its not the case but almost feels like I hit airplane and the truck gets pissy at me and toys to ignore me haha. Now I just let the phone try and find a signal, keep it plugged in so it doesn't drain. Very strange considering its flawless any other time!

The trucks radio is the only bluetooth device I've ever hooked the phone up to. If I get in the truck and turn on the radio and then go to Car Multi Media under the bluetooth paired devices settings in the phone and try to connect it just tells me 'Unable to connect to Car Multi Media'.

It's like the phone is doing it's thing, but the radio isn't putting out a signal unless I go through the steps I mentioned in my first post.

Is my radio supposed to put out a bluetooth signal automatically? Dunno if I have a setting out of whack or what...

I'll try that app the ElBlanco posted and see what happens. But as was also mentioned, it may just be my cheap phone.

    Thanks.

Sounds like your phone is doing its job, so that app won't be the solution. I'll look at my 2014 when I go to lunch and see if I see anything.

Well, after messing around with it at lunch time, I guess I figured out what I was doing wrong.

If I start the truck, and then enable bluetooth on the phone, they won't hook up.

If I have bluetooth enabled, and then start the truck, they hook up.

Since I wasn't using the phones bluetooth for anything I would always have it disabled. Once I got in the truck and had it going I would then enable it. Looks like this was the problem.

Sorry for the time-waster, but I guess us newbs gotta learn one way or another :frusty:

    Thanks.

For automatic Bluetooth pairing on an iPhone you MUST have Bluetooth turned on on the phone BEFORE starting up the device you want to pair to. I just keep Bluetooth turned on all the time now.
