just wanted to pop in this thread and say to hi some fellow Canadian taco lovers

also post some info on aftermarket parts and custom work from my experience on the west coast

i got some custom welded on sliders put on by i will post some photos when i get a chance

also i was sick a tired of trying to order SCS Ray 10's from their website so i found a great Canadian dealer for them and got a set right away https://www.gearshop.ca/ i was dealing with Christian and he was great to work with and would recommend using them for SCS wheels or other parts and services they provide i believe they are in Calgary

If u don't mind me asking what u mean? Looking at trading my diesel 16 colorado z71 in on a 18 tacoma off road. I'm also either going with off road and adding king suspension with 2.5 in lift or might go pro in the Calvary blue. I commute 80 miles a day and put another 250 miles on weekends and on weekend days the wife and I are in it about 5 hrs each day. So about 35k a year . Don't want to go back to full size because I really like the smaller after now at 47k on my colorado. Seats are hard in it and not as comfortable as my 15 tundra crew I had but size for us is much better especially in town. Anyway I see u are not happy and wondering ur experience and what u are now going to get

I think your questions might be better answered by letting us know what you don't like about the newish Chevy you drive.

Seats will not be an upgrade as the Taco seats are crap. I love my truck, but it ain't for the seats, that's for sure.

I like my colorado overall. I can say trade every 2 yrs about 60k miles. I've been driving my 2rd vehicle to mix miles to keep it to 60k instead of 70k. Anyway I will be going away from the diesel due to I don't tow much anymore and it is slower from go. Plus worried about the emissions and really overall with me trading every 2 for the 5k extra it hasn't carried trade value. So I want to go back to gas. The interior to me is all hard plastic and not as good looking in my opinion as the tacoma. Also seems the interior is just shaking and rattling a lot more. Seems not as much quality. Also the outside looks.of the colorado to me are not as nice as tacoma. Thought id lift it but seeing some I didn't really like it more than stock. It drives good and is more harsh on firm over bumps but seems smoother in way too than the tacoma. Tacoma you seem to bounce more in way but not as harsh . Hard to describe. I also don't like the colorado don't have duel.climate or push button start or blind spot mirror warning. Also no remote rear sliding window. Plus adding lift of like 3 in from like king on colorado is just not near the same in looks. I do like the new 8 speed better than the tacoma. Guess a lot mainly had to do with looks outside and inside. Plus resale. Like I said I trade every 2 yr. Honestly my main concern is comfort for wife and I being in it for hours at a time. One poster said u can add padding from good custom.shop.under main seat and they.cut out and add. 18s.come with leather

The interior of the Tacoma (aside from the seats) is really nice. Looks very good quality and is quiet. The ride quality, on a gravel road, with a stock TRD OR, is the best of any vehicle I've ever driven. I imagine a lift will take some of the "plushness" away, but maybe not if you do it right.

The auto transmission basically has two modes (IMHO): "economy" and "normal". The truck starts in "economy mode", and if you push the ECT button it drives like any other auto I've ever driven. The economy mode is good around town, but I prefer ECT mode on road trips. I may do the "ECT always on" mod in the future, but realize the gas mileage will suffer a little bit (I get 11.2L/100kM in economy mode, and about 12.8L/100kM with ECT on.

I would have considered the MT if the DCSB /TRD OR was available with a manual in Canada, but it is not.

My two bits. Good luck with your decision making process.

i have a hard time getting under 16L/100km city driving but i do have welded on sliders and half size up tires 265/70/17 BFG KO2 C load tires

Not a lot of highway driving, but some. Mostly short haul. Stock tires, no lift. I think that's all there is to it. I may change tires at some point, then I'll know for sure.

Did you adjust your mpg calculation for your larger tires?

My truck is a TRD Sport DCLB, stock tire size but BFG KO2 E-rated. Took the air dam off, added a front hitch, other than that totally stock. I'm showing an overall average of 12.0L/100km. All day yesterday and today I've been getting less than 11.0L/100km on my current tank of gas...like 10.5ish range, it was as low as 10.0L/100km for awhile there. Probably 70% highway. Very happy overall.

Mine seems to continue to improve. Maybe as things break in? I'll take it.

Sounds about right. In my experience acceleration is a huge factor. The more gradual the better for mileage. I've gotten much more light on the gas these last few years.

I drive the shit out of my 16 AC TRD OR, just hit 40k after 15 months, bought new, I average 12.6l/100 and have from day one. 90% highway driving BTW. Pretty decent mileage for my style. Just sayin.....

No argument here. Mine was a demo model. That's about what it read when I bought it. It's been getting better over the last few weeks.
