Thanks....interior is mint too. It’ll be a rock crawler by the time I’m done with it. With that rear differential lock it already gets me out of hairy situations. I don’t think I’ll own another Toyota truck without one. This is my first rear lock. My 3rd toyota 4wd

Bring CVs and tie rod ends. Also, forearms, because tight turns in 4wd will be...interesting.

Yeah I wonder if I'll find myself going into 2wd for really tight turns.. I'm just as curious as you guys really. And yeah good call on tie rods, didn't think about bringing those

Like Dave said bring cv and tie rods.

Ok my view. A mechanical locker in an ifs rig can cause issues. Every time i break something in the front its a full lock and suspension is fully drooped out. What happens is eventually the tire drooped out will get traction and that sudden force on parts breaks them fairly easy. (I only broke one tie rod when i was on stock a arms but busted plenty of CVS) this can be avoided with driver mod and knowing when to back off.

It will be cool to see how a mechanical locker does on our ifs first hand though!

    Do you daily drive this?

I do daily it. I'm a little concerned about how much this is going to wear my transfer case from spinning it constantly even in 2wd. Also I'm sure mpg will go down a bit.
I know I'll need to go easy on throttle and try to avoid too much wheelspin once this is in, but in some ways I think it may help save the diff because the wheel in the air won't be spinning 90mph then suddenly stop when it comes down.. idk really, but I'm interested. AOP will be a learning experience.
    Thanks for the input guys

I wish. If I could find a truck at UPullIt with a 5 speed and manual hubs, I would cannibalize it so fast and swap my whole front end and tranny

Rode in a locked IFS vehicle ONE TIME (Tacoma) and vowed NEVER to own one myself.

    1. Ate front tires. Even faster if pavement was involved.
    2. Chattered tires on turns, even in 2wd
    3. Reason I got to ride in it was to bring it to my garage to help change CV shafts....less than 200 miles after install.
    4. Took a football field (with no kneeling players) to turn it around.

YMMV. All I know is what I saw on that one truck. ('92 Yota)

Did he leave the hubs locked or something? ADD should keep it from affecting the drive in 2wd in a Tacoma

Hopefully if this locker is just God awful, I'll find out before AOP and not during. If its acceptable just rolling around in the mud locally then I'll leave it in and learn the limits at AOP. I'm sure I'll break stuff faster, but I'm fairly confident it'll be tolerable. Good experiment either way
