Basically how it supposed to go. If you're doubting it, tighten it more.

TQ and a Israeli Bandage should be carried together. Quickclot or any other hemostatic agent would be a great addition to carrying a TQ as well. Highly recommended to take a trauma oriented firstaid class on how to treat a bleed out wound so you can be affective at how to apply a TQ and what not

Wound packing is essential too. TQ can only stop extremity bleeding.

You can build your own kit for way cheaper (which I have done). This stuff is made by a company (NAR) and a damn good one at that, but it's easy to make your own.
I would recommend not keeping medical gear in your truck (too much temperature variation). Hemo agents are usually good for approximately 2 years.

the amount of folks responding with first aid tips gives me a warm and fuzzy about trail rides.

    In my group, it's me.

Just came home from Canada last night and was exhausted but I did watch the news a bit after seeing notifications on my phone. The death toll was at 2 by the time I went to bed. Woke up to see it was at 50.

I'm finding myself close to being teary eyed, even though I have no connection to any of it. Does that make me weird?

Same thing with IV fluids. If stored correctly they are good well beyond the date on the bag.

I work at a high school and see a lot of students without any situational awareness. They have earbuds on and can't hear what's around them or they're always glued to the screen of their phones.

I watch those Active Self Protection videos on YouTube and try to learn from those. Every time I read the news where there's a victim/s involved, I always think of myself as the victim in that case and think about what I would do to avoid or protect myself in that predicament. Basically I try to make those "experiences" as mine and try to learn from it. In the end I know that I will never be 100% prepared for the unexpected but at least I would have some kind of useful knowledge when shit hits the fan.

North American Rescue is absolutely one of the best places to purchase supplies for kits...it's expensive compared to some other sites, but would you rather trust Amazon stuff or known stuff from a company that supplies police ems and other groups

They're local (to me) and do not hesitate to help you if you ask. I believe they are a veteran run company so they know their stuff. Plus, they give discounts to public servants.

I don't mean to whore them out, but I trust my life with their products and they are proven to work. A large number of deaths are preventable with just a little bit of knowledge and good equipment.
