I watched the videos. I have no doubt he was either bump-firing these weapons or had binary triggers installed. He could have bought full autos illegally or illegally modified guns, but I guarantee it was high cap mags and bump firing.

10 gun arsenal could have cost as little as $6k with modified triggers...

This whole thing makes me sick. What kind of sick fuck plans this. He perfectly set himself up above a concert venue with thousands upon thousands of people knowing he put himself in the perfect position for a massacre.

    What who?
I'm thinking a Gat trigger sounds like firing increases at a point in the video

I also carry my small med bag with me in my truck at all times. I personally always seem to be on scene of some shit quite a bit. I'm so glad the Marine Corps sent me through EMT training.

Just remember when using a a tq to note the time it was applied. So you don't lose the limb it's applied to you have to release it every now and then.

My parents, sister, brother-in-law, 5 of my best friends, and about 15 other friends were at Route 91. My parents and sister/bro in law hid inside the mgm in a strangers hotel room. They got to a family friends house in Vegas but still aren’t allowed back to the hotel to get their things.

I’ve confirmed that 5 of my friends sheltered in place and are okay and out of Vegas. Im still looking into who else is out there. I’m hoping all of my friends are okay. Prayers and thoughts to all involved and affected.

My fiancée and I normally go to this concert as well so it hits hard. We were in another (albeit smaller) shooting in college at UCSB 4 years ago and it’s terrifying.

Never release or loosen a TQ once it is applied unless you are a doctor in the ER or doctor in the OR.

I also have proper training...Being a Paramedic currently practicing in the 911 service, I have taken multiple active shooter courses (they require many refreshers and hands-on trainings) including the TCCC course which is based on, directed towards, and taught to the military. I have read many many recent studies that are military based studies on TQ application in the field and it's direct relation to limb loss (or lack thereof). Military studies are now showing TQ applications of up to 16 hours with no long-term deficits, meaning they keep their limb with full sensation and function. To clarify, in 2017 the standard for active shooter situations today IS tourniquet application. In our Mass Casualty Incident Kits we carry triage tags (separating the patients into pre-designated prioritized categories based on the severity of their injuries, i.e. a patient with a GSW to the chest will be labeled a red tag and needs to be transported sooner than a patient with a GSW to the foot that will be labeled with a green tag), chest seals, decompression needles, and MANY tourniquets. A patient with a severed femoral artery has, on average, 3 minutes until they bleed out. That's shorter than the average EMS agency's response time. There are thousands of articles on TQ application and it's use in the event of an active shooter situation. There are tons of articles that show the dramatic decrease in military personnel K.I.A. since tourniquet application has become the STANDARD. In an ideal situation with only 1 patient, if we think it's a venous bleed then yes we try direct pressure, pressure bandages, etc. with a TQ as last resort. If it's an arterial bleed, TQ application is the first choice. In a Mass Casualty Incident, we don't have the time or the resources to bandage every patient. In an MCI, if they have significant bleeding from a limb, they get a TQ and rapid extrication.

Disclaimer: I am not trying to be rude or disrespectful, but this is the standard now. Decades ago, yes they were fearful of tourniquet application and the long term effects. Yes, the standard USED TO BE to release the tourniquet for a short period of time to "save the limb". But multiple studies have shown that not only were these patients losing a critical amount of blood during this "short period of time", but by leaving the tourniquet on, they did not lose their limb. Now there are some other concerns such as lactic acid build-up, etc. from an induced compartment syndrome caused by TQ application, but that's getting really advanced and we can treat those things very easily in today's time at a Trauma Center.

I want the general public to know what to look for if something like this unfortunately happens and, to me, there is confusion that has come about while we have been discussing this topic. I am no doctor and anyone reading this should act in their respective capacity for the situation, but the standards have changed and the research is there.

Guess we are saying the same thing. I apologize for not having any scholarly backing to my assertion that application of a tourniquet COULD lead to a loss of limb. Considering any time I have had to apply one, there was a slight gap between application and this admit to surgical resources you speak of. So, I am sorry but the statement is far from false.

Let's not forget that most folks in this thread will only see this extent of wound in a back country/wilderness accident where access to surgical care is not right around the corner... and most likely require extensive rescue efforts.

A shooting like we are discussing, where medical care is down the road, or an accident on the interstate... EMS is quick to respond. When you are 48mi from the nearest paved road, and a 45min MEDEVAC flight to even respond to one's location, the golden hour is eaten up pretty damn quick.

In this shooting I am betting many of the wounds, even those to limbs, would not require a tourniquet. I mean, I'm no scholarly article, but I did stay at a holiday inn express once... so I happen to personally know what GSW/SFWs look like, and how to treat in the field while prepping for air/ground transport to a surgical site.

my money is still on an RPK/clone for this nut bag's weapon of choice.

On edit... so current standards in mascas is to tourniquet and tag. Check.

This shooting is ridiculous. I cannot comprehend the evil shooters must be in order to prey on innocent people having a good time.

I believe he'll answer for this.

Bummer of all those who lost their lives and those left to pick up the pieces. So sad.
