I'm getting a solid 16 mpg everywhere I go in my 2017. I'm running 33" tires. Barely go over 70. Is there a problem. Regretting not getting the chevy. Anyone else having this problem or know a reason rhyme or fix to my dilemma. Lmk

What kind of driving are you doing? I have BFG's 275 and I go around 85 every morning to and from work and get about 16 mpg. If I drive in the streets and take my time around 50mph I get 20 mpg.

I get amazing mileage on the freeway. Have seen up to 30 mpg. That being said, most of my driving is city and I barely see a tank average over 18.

33" probably e rated tires will do that.

I'm running 265 75r16 c rated tires and my mpg's dropped too though not to that extent

Here we go again! Another MPG thread! :annoyed::facepalm:

MPG has more to do with driving behavior than vehicle set up:burnrubber:
All though 33s probably have something to do with it.

if youre looking for reliable and good gas milage you should check out kia optima.
they only had 1 complaint this year and 2 last year. i know some of you might want to
comment thats because they only sold 1 car this year and 2 last year. lol
    look up carcomplaints.com
i rent them often and cruising at 75, no head wind or hills i max out the mpg indicator of 50mpg.
kia also has very good warranty. something to think about if youre looking for fuel economy.
but if you need a truck, then 16mpg is good.

Good to see the 3rd gen section hasn't changed much since I last posted lol.

My average has stayed just above 20mpg over 30,000 miles, but I have stock tires. Gas mileage for these trucks seem to vary a lot between different drivers and location anyway. Add in 33's and I could see it hitting 16mpg.

Have you compensated your manual calculations for the new rubber?

Cause that mess on the dash doesn't know any better, and your odo and speedo are both wrong.

Not going over 70 isn't the problem, it's getting the 33s rolling from a dead stop that is. You don't mention section width or load rating but for a 285/75r16 AT tire in load E you're looking at something around 60 lbs or more. That a huge increase in tire weight over the OEM rubber. The additional weight and diameter are both working pretty hard against the truck, especially starting from a stop and moving around at low speed. You can get some of that back by regearing (assuming you haven't already) to compensate for the tires, but not all of it. All told though, 16 mpg probably isn't all that bad after 33s. If you are on stock gears that's a little over 17 mpg adjusted and that's less than 1 mpg off the rated city fuel economy of 4x4 slushbox trucks.
