Yeah, was a late night of traveling in NM with no place to go. Ended up on one of the forest service roads to sleep. We only had like 4 hrs of sleep that night. She needed caffeine. Lol

You can do what you want to, but I would not recommend it. You won't wake up to know the heater did not do as it is supposed to do.

It's heavy, but I would say the bigass canvas 'teepee' or 'trapper' style tent with fire-resistant chimney port and the collapsible Ti woodstove set-up is the only reasonable way to have heat in a tent with minimal risk of killing yourself... if you want to lug all that stuff around and set it up. Better off with a really good sleeping bag IMO

and... I'd never sleep with anything burning (campfire, lantern, heater, etc.) you never know and I actually had a backountry ranger show up in RMNP one time after midnight. We had nothing burning, but they will write you up for that stuff, especially in protected areas.

If a sleeping bag costs $1k+ it better be the last one I need, as well as perform services on me while I'm in it. This thread is funny sometimes.

To each his own... I lived in my truck for almost 2 years (saved a lot of rent/mortgage $), I don't do hotels, I 'camp' A LOT, I go places where it's REALLY cold... for me - money well spent

I won't tell you about our beach chairs... https://www.capecodbeachchair.com/c...rs/products/nauset-heights?variant=4180482945

I just picked up one the other day and used it over the weekend. A little pricey, but the way everything attaches together is just so damn handy.
A $20 battery powered Carbon Monoxide detector solves this problem.

I find it funny when people go unnecessarily minimal when truck camping. It's not like you're having to pack the stuff on your back. I've got a lot of storage space in my truck, so dammit I'm gonna use it if something will make me more comfortable.

as far as the minimal when truck camping thing goes, I still try to go minimal. idk, it just feels like im getting more out of it when I don't have all the comforts of home (which is what im trying to get away from). but alas, as long as youre getting enjoyment out of your outing, who cares how much stuff you take. bee happy, enjoy the time with nature, and leave the site cleaner than when you found it.

This especially. I used to go backpacking when I was younger and the camp leader was adamant about doing a camp site sweep and getting any and all trash out, whether ours or others. That's stuck with me all my life.

I did have to tell the Fuker with the generator and HDTV on the side of his land yacht, who pulled in beside us at a campground one night after midnight to shut the hell up...

yup. its sad sometimes to see all the trash left behind by some people. when we camp on FSRs sometimes we come across ones where people have left everything from rugs, to gas cans. there was also one where they had been keeping horses (which theres nothing wrong with that) and had left literal piles of poop and hay all over the site.

yea I hate that too. I guess some people just don't think respectfully regarding the other people around them. we had a guy at 4 am in the site next to us start talking on the phone pretty loudly for almost an hour. im pretty sure that call could wait till at least sunrise bub. :annoyed:

and... lots of stuff doesn't necessarily mean comfort or happiness, I believe good stuff and less of it is when it becomes easy, enjoyable, relaxing...
