Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
The sole power company on PR was 9 billion in debt before the hurricane hit.

I think he’s asking ‘where’s Canada in this? Has japan sent relief supplies to PR?’ (You know, like the US does to aid other countries.

Unfortunately, it isn't that simple. Government red tape won't just give out stuff to be delivered. There has to be signatures, accountability, tracking, etc. They won't give it to just anyone.

This. Make a list of all the nations that the United States sent aid to in just the last six months, now compare it to the list of nations sending relief.

DAFUQ? You know they are part of America, right? They've even voted for statehood, and only Congress is keeping them from it.

These are AMERICANS in need. I've deployed with the PRANG - Puerto Rican Air National Guard. Outstanding civil engineers. They just need food, water, and fuel - they'll fix everything else.

WTF? Are you just reading the first word in my post and then ranting? I know what a U.S. Territory is. I was in the P.I. for the ceremony when we relinquished our territorial rights to the indigenous government.

I also know what a foreign nation is.

    Speaking of sending aid...

It won’t ever be said too much or loud enough, TW folks have been more than generous in their personal assistance to us when we lost our home back in July.
Damn, has it been that long already? I don’t have a list of donors so I can’t thank everyone personally...

Mostly, we’ve put our kitchen back together with the funds. Pots, pans, dishes, flatware, utensils, glassware, etc.

Not knowing if/when we’ll have to move out of park housing, most of it sits in a closet still boxed up...
but I did break out one sauce pan last night and made a perfect bowl of popcorn!

Sorry - I read that you were implying that the PR was a foreign government.

The Equifax is under the microscope before the House.

Edit some of the things said so far:
-Is there anything more important than protecting the PII of the consumer?
    - No Sir.
-Would you identify that as the #1 responsibility of your company and everyone in your company?
    - We have for years Sir. Yes.

I saw some drone footage of the roads. Holy shit. Like some giant rat was gnawing on them and there isn't enough left to drive on.

Civil engineers will be busy for years just getting basic infrastructure rebuilt in a lot of areas, and that doesn't include the 80 year-old dam that definitely needs an overhaul. Their patchwork 1950s power grid is gone, and their reliance on electric water pumps everywhere has revealed that critical flaw.

This is good opportunity to modernize. Since they have to rebuild everything, putting solar and wind power everywhere would go a long way to replacing the grid that they lost. Water is going to take a long time, as will other infrastructure. It's going to suck for a long time - they've got a lot of work to do - but have to get to where they can eat, drink, and bathe regularly.

I saw an engineering show (on History or Science, can't remember) where they talked about "glued and screwed" homes. All construction was using both construction adhesive and 3" power screws. It added about 15% to the price of the home, and it was being argued whether it was worth it. The sole example was during hurricane Ike proved it was.

Yep. It had been recently rebuilt/restored, and that's how they did it. Incredible.

On the other hand, God help you if you need to replace roof shingles...

Just go with slate; even without a 'glued and screwed' install it's generally good for 100+ years, and by then it's your Great-Grandkid's problem

I wonder how a slate roof would fare in a hurricane. it would make one hell of a projectile!
