An LS swap is significantly more work and money than a budget turbo build.

I looked into it in depth and for the same money you can make a light built 3rz pushing some serious numbers

After watching sloppy mechanics I'd be willing to say an LS build would be more fun tbh, but I'm in deep now so turbo for me it is :D

I mean yeah it's apples to oranges, an LS powered Tacoma would be hands down the coolest thing you could do. I'm just speaking to the fact there is a lot of misinformation about how affordable and feasible it actually is. It's definitely not anywhere near as inexpensive as people who say to do it but have never done it themselves would lead one to believe.

The Ls is to the Tacoma what the sbc is to the pickup...right? :D

I think an older pre taco with a 22re would be fun

I've got most of the swap figured out, I just know it's going to take alot longer to get in than a turbo.

But with the turbo I'll have to get a custom intercooler made and probably move some ac lines

A custom intercooler isn't nearly as hard as the custom downpipe

Stock 3RZ crank can handle 1200 flywheel torque.

Turbo headers are on the shelf at LCE, or have a custom one made by Paradise Racing. Bolt on kits also available.

Counter balance shaft delete kit, rods, pistons, ARP head studs, and MLS head gasket, and it can handle 600 whp eaaaaaaasy.

Yeah the 3rz will hold up much longer than the stock trans/driveshafts/differentials

I've been following your problem trying to come up with a suggestion for why it is acting the way it is. It sounds to me, though, that something is simply not functioning correctly. What is your O2 sensor set up now? I can't remember if you're using the simulator still, which one you ended up replacing. Also, did you try cleaning your MAF as well with some electrical cleaner?

I wish someone would take the time to make a graph of engine power vs dollar investment and compare a turbo 3rz, a turbo 5vz and an LS swap (with inevitable turbo obvi) because none of these curves are linear so to get the best bang for your buck you really need to know how much you have to spend.
