Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
just got a set of Duratracs. IMO, they are better street tires than the Rugged Trail stock tires in terms of ride. traction in the rain is great. also they're very quiet other than a little wind noise. jury still out on mud traction...have only had them off the road a little bit so far. good grip on laomy stuff, and the little bit of mud i was in seemed to clean right out. i have high hopes for these tires...i'm just wondering about treadwear...other goodyear tires i've had in the past have been 30k or less. i haven't had my KMs on since last fall, but i can tell the duratrac is far superior for wet traction (i'm sure this is true in snow also) and road manners. can't immagine them doing better in the gooey stuff though. of the three sets of KMs i've had over the years, they have never let me down in the mud and have always been 50k tires. BFGoodrich....bring back the KM Mud Terrain! have no idea what i'll replace them with when they are worn out (in a couple more years).

For the average person, you're exactly right.

Bridgestone makes a very good A/T.

Right now, I have the Cooper STT's on egale alloy's 17" wheels, and I wasn't all that impressed by them in the mud. They were ok on the street and snow. Next weekend, I am getting Hercules Trail diggers on ATX wheels, going to see how they work out. I wanted Kumho, but the back order is up to July I was told.

The Goodyear MT/R Kevlar has some pretty good road manners and does great in the mud and fairly good on hard packed dirt.
