About the same, running Wrangler Duratrac's, sliders, removed air-dam, canopy. Being a bit lighter on the acceleration and shifting into 5 or 6 for city driving tends to help, but hills and short drives (New West) on hills totally fuck my economy right up.

I've just rolled over 32,000 KM on the clock and my all time average through ownership is 11.4L/100KM. I commute 100ish KM a day for work plus the casual driving and I'd say it's about 30% city; 50% 80 roads (doing 100ish); and 20% highway (doing 120ish).

Sport DCLB, all stock during summer, ran stock size winter tires through the winter months.

Not too hilly in my area of NB but when I am going down steep hills I throw it in 4th or 3rd and just coast. There's a couple of looong hills between me and my work where I don't touch the gas for over a minute or two. But yeah, up steep hills screws ya pretty good.

I average 10.5 without AC, 11.5 with on my commute here in Calgary (mostly highway). Best I've seen was 9.4 doing 80kmh going to Banff in the snow.

I have tracked my mileage on Fuelly, since I got my 2017 TRD Off Road - automatic, about a year ago. Basically stock configuration. I run Michelin X-Ice in winter. Best mileage was on a trip to South Carolina last April.

Anyone up here have any info on whether or not they've been successful in getting the leaf spring squeak fixed by the dealer? I see there is now a TSB stateside, but Mayfield told me as of yesterday that we don't have any such campaign. I'm still digging, and if I learn more will post an update. My truck squeaks bad, I don't get it, I've had a pile of leaf spring trucks over the years, all quiet. Definitely not something I'd expect from Toyota.

Last year I took my Truck to Mayfield because my leafs were squeaking. They fixed it and it still doesn't squeak.

Yes, there is a service bulletin, and I was told today, that they will put something between the leaf springs when they have the parts. In the meantime, they greased it again.

First time I took mine in, they replaced the whole leaf. started squeaking again two months later. 3 weeks ago, I went in for an appointment and they told me there's a new TSB for the squeaky leafs, and the fix is to replace the silencer pads with updated ones. so far so good, no squeaks, but I haven't had time to take the truck offroad lately...that'll be the real test

Mine squeaked a ton for the first 8,000km but now only a certain amount of dirt makes them noticeably squeak. No squeaking after a good wash for sure.

Was at my dealer on Tuesday, getting the 2nd service done. They had a TRD Pro grill hanging in their accessory display, so I went ahead and bought it. $375 CAD + $25 to install (yes, I know it is easy to change out) so $400 + tax.

This seems to be one of the few items where the Canadian price is not exorbitant compared to the US. I think US owners are paying $375 - $400 or more - in US $. One of the few things that might be worthwhile for US owners to drive to Canada to purchase, if they live close enough.

Now I have a redundant TRD Off Road grill taking up space.

This is almost exactly what happened to me. I knew about the possibility of low fluids and so I purchased fluid for both diffs and the tranny from Toyota the day I picked up the truck. They thought I was crazy but since I asked them to check those specific fluid levels before I picked it up but they refused and stated there was no money in the budget to cover an hour of shop labour to check those things. They also said they have never had any problems in the past with low fluids from factory, but then again how would they know since they never check.
Other then that they treated me well.

Thanks for the leaf updates guys. Mayfield said there was nothing for my truck, until I showed up with the US tsb printed out, then I got told they would be able to do something about it. I'm on the fence whether or not to do the tranny update. I just drive in ECT mode all the time, feels like most normal automatics then.

That echos my case exactly. I thought my rear diff was low due it it being the 8.75" one on the offroad. But it seems either way they're low. Shame. Front Diff/TC/Rear diff/Transmission all low.

Now my hood is separating and rear diff is weeping. I don't trust a first year Toyota tech who gets shovelled the warranty work due it paying less to do my repairs though. Both are easy fixes if you are mechanically inclined. Shouldn't have to do it yourself but I'd prefer that over some kid doing it and screwing it right up.

Hello my Canadian brothers. Happy Thanksgiving. I have been doing research since April about the 3rd Gen Tacoma. And I am glad I did my homework. I thought the issues that the US Tacoma's were having were just exclusive to the US. Apparently we get the same truck as they do. I have test driven the Tacoma twice, one in April and one two days ago. I cannot replicate the issues on the tranny when I took it for a ride. My sales agent here is a long time friend of mine but it seems he is clueless about the issue with the tranny. He said he sold 10 Tacoma's already since they came out and all his clients were happy.

I want to take his word for it and I want to believe that he is not bs'ing me but there are way too many issues with the third gen based on what I have read that I am leaning towards just getting a used second gen.

My transmission is good. Except when I am using cruise control on the highway. It likes to downshift ore often then it would if I didn't have cruise on and sometimes takes longer then I would like to upshift again. For the record my Wifes 2011 Highlander does the same thing.

^ It scares me to get one with all the issues I read on the Third Gen sub forum. Unfortunately, manual transmission is not part of my option. So it does happen only when doing highway driving I guess? I live in Manitoba so it's all flat here. I will rarely use the truck on the highway, mostly everyday driving to work and here and there.

Also there are the leaf spring issues and the rear axle recall.

Toyota USA and Canada issued a software reprogramming fix for the transmission complaints. You can look up the thread on this forum. As is typical with Toyota, the fix in Canada came out after it was issued in the USA. It mainly affected 2016 and early 2017 models, as far as I know. I had my 2017 DC Off Road reprogrammed earlier this year, and am quite satisfied with how it performs. I believe Toyota has primarily programmed the transmission to achieve better fuel mileage. I am averaging 12.0L/100 km over the life of the vehicle (17,000+ km). I have had no other issues or complaints.
