    Please don't drive it into the shithole of debating gun rights.

    Rights aren't wholly universal and are subject to swift revocation, particularly in privately owned businesses. Just like TW, free speech is limited here per your user agreement.

    If a hotel bans guns, then you being their customer is the choice you make and their regulations are legally binding - you agreed to them with your patronage. Don't like it? Go elsewhere.

    Going and shouting in a public area to exercise your "right to free speech" works great, until you're arrested. Rights exist and are easily abused, knowing the difference is part of responsible adulting.

    was on the phone with my wife (who was there near the stage) when this all happened. She got a little cut up but made it out with her friends. I'm truly heartbroken for the families that lost loved ones last night. Grateful to the first responders and civilians that helped last night and into the morning...even Dan Bilzerian.

    Ive been scrolling through the past few pages and was going to say something about the first aid advice given and decided to quote yours.
    Tourniquets are absolutely NOT last ditch effort. New studies from OIF/OEF wars and extremity studies have proved that most Tourniquet information as false. Applying a tourniquet to an extremity isnt as bad as previous claims have said. There have been cases where patients have had a tourniquet on an extemity for in excess of 8 hours without losing the limb due to tourniquet application. You can have a tourniquet on for up to 120 minutes without any nerve/ ischemia damage.
    Belts are also not a tourniquet. You’d have to have a chair leg as a windlass for it be possibly effective, but again, most improvised Tourniquets will only SLOW the bleeding, not occlude it. Although slowing the bleeding is better than letting them bleed out anyway. This is why we preach to buy Tourniquets from reputable companies, not 10$ Tourniquets off Amazon.
    Apply TQ 2-3” above wound. If injury site is not immediately apparent, apply TQ “high and tight” on extremity. As opposed to previous claims, TQ’s can be applied to double bone compartments. ie. forearm, calf/shin.
    4 years as a Grunt in a STA platoon. Taught TCCC classes as well as attended a live tissue course. NREMT-B as well. Will be giving a TQ class to college kids tomorrow.
    I could talk your ear off about this stuff. If anyone would like more info First aid/ Treatment, Where to get TQ’s, etc. Pm me. Always willing to spread knowledge. Not sure if this has been started but a First Aid Thread with treatments/ equipment/ med bag info all archived would do this community good.

    Prayers for the victims and their families and anyone on here that knows anyone that was involved. I personally have a few brothers that were there and it was unimaginable from what I’m hearing.

    Edit: Just forgot that someone mentioned, tampons. That shit does not work. Please, buy the right medical equipment and supplies that works. Leave the tampons for your wife/ girlfriend. Buy gauze and hemostatic agents.

    Small but you should still be ready. My parents were there, My Fiancée and I lived in Isla Vista when that shooting occurred and the gunman killed himself outside our apartment, My friends were at both. It’s unlikely, but I never thought I’d ever have to deal with one and I’m sure that my friends who happened to be at both never thought they’d have to deal with two.

    Less than 24 hours after the massacre at an open-air country music concert in Las Vegas, authorities are still piecing together what shooter Stephen Paddock did in preparation for his deadly shooting rampage that left 59 people dead and 527 others injured.

    There is still a lot they don't know about what motivated Paddock, described by officials as a "lone wolf," to launch the most deadly mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

    In a news conference Monday afternoon, Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said his deputies are still processing four crime scenes: the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, from where Paddock shot his victims about 500 yards below; the venue at the Route 91 Harvest festival concert; Paddock's home in Mesquite, NV, about 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas; and another home in Reno in northern Nevada.

    Lombardo initially said that 16 weapons were found in Paddock's hotel room, where he had been staying since Sept. 28. Scopes were attached to "some of the rifles," he added without more detail. Investigators found an additional 18 firearms in Paddock's Mesquite home, as well as several thousand rounds of ammunition and explosives. They also found several pounds of ammonium nitrate, a key component for making a bomb, in Paddock's car.

    Still, the investigation is fast-moving and fluid as, four hours later, the gun count increased. In an early evening news conference, Assistant Sheriff Todd Fasulo said that 23, not 16, weapons had been found in the Mandalay Bay hotel room and 19, not 18 weapons had been discovered in Paddock's Mesquite home.

    Also, the office of Rep. Adam Schiff, (D-CA) confirmed that he had been briefed by the FBI and informed that some, but not all of the weapons found in the hotel room were fully automatic. It was not clear whether those weapons were manufactured as fully automatic, or whether Paddock had converted them.

    Law enforcement officers had conducted a floor by floor search beginning on the 29th floor. Upon arriving at Paddock's suite on the 32nd floor, they announced themselves. Paddock responded by shooting through the door, wounding a security guard in the leg, Lombardo said.

    "They received gunfire. They backed off and SWAT responded," said a somber Lombardo. They entered the room to find Paddock dead. Lombardo said investigators believe Paddock killed himself.

    Lombardo also said that he had dispatched a SWAT team to examine Paddock's house in northern Nevada to make sure there are no booby traps.

    Many questions remain unanswered.

    Lombardo said investigators still have not identified Paddock's motive for the shooting. Paddock's brother, Eric Paddock of Orlando, FL, said he was a wealthy retired accountant and high stakes gambler.

    "There's no political affiliation that we know of. There's no religious affiliation that we know of," Eric Paddock told reporters earlier in the day.

    Investigators also don't know how Paddock managed to assemble such a large arsenal of weapons in his hotel suite. Lombardo said that his team is still working on the origins of the arsenal, saying that one gun dealer in Nevada has stepped forward to say that he had sold one firearm to Paddock. When asked whether he would characterize Paddock's firearms as "assault weapons," Lombardo simply said, "Yes."

    Earlier in the day, President Trump, appearing before reporters at the White House, said that he would visit Las Vegas on Wednesday.

    He called the mass shooting "an act of pure evil," adding "In moments of tragedy and horror, America comes together as one — and it always has."

    The mayor of Las Vegas, Carolyn Goodman, summed up the mood of the many local and state officials gathered for an afternoon news conference.

    "It is a very difficult time. While the sun is shining in Las Vegas, it is a very dark and black day," she said.
