The Duke goes in for the first service tomorrow. I'll finally be able to rev it all the way to 10k and get on the freeway!

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
they dont require break in. theres actually evidence that supports breaking them in having detrimental effects. also the oil needs to be changed twice before the first scheduled one

:notsure: I'm following their directions to the letter so if something bad happens they get to fix it

they get to fix it anyway. changing the oil doesnt void the warranty and neither does revving over whatever rpms, even if they could tell

They have to change the rev limiter in the bikes computer at 1k miles. It starts flashing angrily at about 6.5k rpms

that sucks. i knew the bmws did that but not the ktms. pretty ridiculous. do they do it for free if you arent having them perform the service?

No idea. Probably depends on the dealership. This is the last time this dealership will see this bike unless something goes wrong. I've got a great shop WAY closer to my house, i plan on doing most of the work on it myself and the customer service here kinda sucks

Meh still a super fun bike.

Typo 600 miles is the first service and rev limit change.

Just got back after the service. This KTM is awesome! I can't turn off the rev light flashing at 6k until the odo hits 600 miles (tonight) but I can rev it to the true limit and it just pulls! Little single cylinder sounds fantastic too.

Yeah I mean you could go past the limit, I may have been misleading. It doesn't stop you from twisting the throttle and going past 7.5k rps's. They just tell you in multiple places in the manual and it flashes very angrily at you lol.
