Does anyone know if flat black plastic dip spray over the chrome emblem will last? Recommend it or Not? Any prep other than clean area, sand chrome Plastic? What about painting grill?

I've had my emblem derped for about three years now and it's doing great. No flaking or chips, and it's been pounded by bugs, rocks, branches, and pressure washers.

It should. I just traded a Jeep for a Tacoma and had the emblem on my Jeep dipped for over 3 years and it was still holding up after tons of direct hits from rocks, sand, limbs, etc. I actually used flat black plasti dip on the Tacoma grill & emblems a day after I got it.

Okay thanks. I have to repaint the front end silver color of my 2006 Taco. It has weathered a bit. So when I take the grill pieces out to paint the plastic dip, I can paint the nose piece silver with a clear coat.

Yup. Mine was painted on poorly and has faded around the edges after about two years. A properly applied coat would probably out live the truck....

As long as you do enough coats it should last. I recommend at least 8-10 coats. I helped my friend do his about a year and a half ago and his still looks great.

Does anyone know if you need to prep the area much prior to spray plastic dip? Like on my grill mesh I have applied Mothers Black to keep them shiny black periodically.

The only prep is to make sure grease dirt and wax is off of the surface.

Chiming in too out of curiosity, does the white plasti dip come close to matching the super white on my taco?

Okay, thanks. I will just clean it up good. No was only The Mothers back to black was put on it. Don't know about the white answering to the Crackils. I have just using this dip spray. Don't know much about it. Only using the Matt black. I do know you have to apply many coats since it can be easily peeled off later if you Don't want it anymore.

How is the best way to paint the grill emblem Matt black dip? Leave in grill remove grill mesh from frame and spray all of it, or try and remove the emblem without breaking plastic tabs and paint it separately? How can you remove the plastic chrome emblem?

I did my grille surround about a year ago. You'll be surprised as shit as to how well it matches. Just make sure to put on a couple coats of glossifier and clean it with Meguiers cleaner wax occasionally. Also, i took mine completely apart so i had to do no masking. Actually would taken longer to mask it all off than to just take it apart.
