Found this the other day.... going to test and see how it works if I use the hammock at Gilmer.

That is the plan man, that is the plan.

Had a blast at Barnwell Mountain last weekend, and took my dad up a few trails to get him out of the house while he continues his recovery.

It wasn't all fun and games. I had a little too much fun and found myself needing a new gear set in the rear diff. So today I ordered a 4.88 rear third from ECGS. I'm doing the rear first to get the rig rolling again. Once we get these medical bills sorted out and I finalize some details on buying a house, I'll get the 4.88 front headed my way along with some real tires. I'll tear apart the axle housing this week and show y'all the carnage. Don't drink and drive and show off for your pops... while firmly planting your right foot down saying "fuck it, I aint winching tonight!" ... because you will most certainly be winching that night

Been a long time since I did something stupid. Glad I was close to home when it happened and had good folks like @ETXTacoma @Zac of all trades @dwaltdtx @SuperBad @Silverspool and @MellyMel out there willing to help me out and keep the good times going.

Huge props to @SuperBad - Jason, my dad had never been out on rocks before and he only had 3 trails with me in the passenger seat before I blew up some gears. Thank you so much for letting him roll shotgun on that last run!

usually it happens when locked and too much skinny pedal gets used and the axle starts bouncing, catching traction sporadically

I was happy to have him along for some trail riding. Had some good conversations while enjoying the trails. He's welcome to ride along anytime!

Glad you were able to make it out and sucks we were not able to wheel together! Should have told you to come to the Poker run with your dad and could have avoided needing new gears! I think everyone except maybe @Zac of all trades @Silverspool and @SuperBad left with some sort of damage... but @Silverspool doesn't count since he didn't wheel!

Needing new gears now is bad timing, but it was planned for the future anyway. I'm gonna do everything I can to cram 37s under my fenders now

My tires have barely any tread on them, a contributing factor to me getting heavy on the gas pedal, but those tires were worn because I'm heavy on that gas pedal on pavement :D

    :burnrubber:

I did some lurking on marlincrawler.com this afternoon too... the wheels are turning! (well, not my rear wheels :bananadead:)

I didnt take that much bumper damage. Some scratches that seem like they will mostly buff out. Figured it was a risk with the slimline when I decided on it. I knew one day I would probably go to a full front bumper anyway. Especially once I get a HC rear with swing out(s?).

I am still up in the air if I ever want to do a HC with swingout.

Always something changing on the truck...

I'm not set on going HC but I will def go with some type of swing out. Still hard to get into the thought of cutting my bed sides with having a lot of payments to go...

Yea, I understand that part.... but if you are already doing new bumper with swingout... why not just go ahead and do the high clearance ya know.

Same here! Cutting is the best part!

You figure out a game plan on the re-gear and whatever other craziness you're going to do to the truck? After driving mine a bit more, I'm happy with 35's and 4.88s, but if you stay with 35's you may look at 4.56s since you're s/c. I'm guessing you want to keep top end?
