Thanks . Its been a very difficult time for us and him. Two months now and not meds, nerve blocks (7 in two weeks) and now the Ketamine infusions have worked for long only minor relief.

Well, I don't know were else to take a moment and talk about this, so what better place than the Internet.

My brother is currently assigned to the CA Air Guard, after years with the Air Force. After several tours, he has been suffering from PTSD. The VA has declared him 100% disabled and he went back to Travis to work with his unit to finalize his Medical discharge. He has attempted suicide 4 times (at least we found something he is bad at). He appears to have being doing good, working with his Flight Surgeon and making all his appointments. He was working on an old trailer with plans of taking his discharge and traveling the country.

However, he has gone missing. He last spoke with my parents September 6th (via phone) and was last seen on base September 11th. He hasn't been online, responded to calls, emails, or reached out to anyone since the 9th. He left no indication that he wasn't going to do anything different than his normal routine.

He has a Chocolate Lab service dog.

His base and local PD have started to look for him.

I know that he hasn't been able to deal with his demons very well. His personal life and that of his kids has been a mess for years. Our family had hoped that he was getting the help he needed. However, I am afraid that he may have felt that the demons could only be silenced one way. If he went into the wilderness in Northern California, it could be a long time before anyone finds him.

I guess I just needed to talk this out. Thanks for that.

If you have a military buddy or family member, make sure they know you are there for them. Sometimes just knowing that can make a difference.

How can we help brother? What area is he suspected to be in? I think you have my number, but if not then PM me. Praying that they find him safe. I too have some bad PTSD (that’s what the docs say atleast) and went to a program which really helped me out in life. I’d love to see him get there when he is found.

    Praying for the best.

Thanks guys, if I even knew were to start looking, I would not only be out there, but I would be asking the northern ca guys too. He was living out of his trailer, some times at or near Travis, Moffett, and Napa. To big of an area to just be aimlessly looking around. Local PD has been out talking to a few of his know friends, so if his trailer, truck, or bike is seen they will make contact.

He was living with me for a few months at the beginning of the year, then on his own in the Phoenix area. That was when he tried suicide the last time. Phx PD found him and was able to track me down and get me his service dog. Upon his recovery, my dad drove him to Travis and handed him over to his unit. That was the last week of June. I have only talked to him twice since then. He wasn't calling or texting with any of us very much.

The VA has been taking care of him, his has been in two 90 day PTSD programs and 30 day AA programs. I can honestly say, he is not a case of being lost in the system.

I know he didn't have any money, so gas was an issue. He use to be stationed there and hiked and camped all over the area. I am sure he would know a place to go and not be found for a long time. If that is what he wanted.

My mom is worried, but knows we have all done the best we could for him. For her, I just want him found one way or another (preferable safely). As hard as this is on me, I can't even image how hard it is on her.

Pointers, I’ve done this a time or two:

-easiest way to track someone these days is with Find My IPhone if they have an iPhone, Mac, or iPad. You’d have to be able to figure out his Apple log in info. I’m assuming you know an email address for him, so hack his email if you can to find his iPhone log in info (he’d most likely link it for a recovery address).

-I’m assuming his dog is chipped. Find out who got him the dog (which organization), and then see who makes their chips and get the ID info. Then contact whoever runs their database and see if the dog has been picked up as a stray or anything. Even if it was a week ago, it will give a general area where he passed through usually.

-Comvince whoever has jurisditictikn (whatever LE agency) to ping his phone.

-have unit track down his military buddies, but not the ones at the unit he’s at now, you want the ones he was on deployment with. THOSE are the dudes he will contact.

-of course, LE should have ran him for wants and warrants, which would show that he’s in custody. Make sure they do it for surrounding states as well, the systems don’t always have information connect for in custody.

    -check Canada.

-have whoever has jurisdiction run what is called a RNQ on Spillman if they use that, or a registered name inquiry. Other systems have similar. Basically looking for new vehicles / titles in his name. Also, run the VIN of known vehicles / trailers in surrounding states to see if there was a change of ownership. iE: if his trailer was re registered in Utah, then 1) they need to ask new owner where he got it, 2) he might be in Utah.

Most of this shit is basic police work, but a lot of major city cops will write it off because he’s an adult, and a lot of small town cops don’t think of this shit because they’ve never dealt with a case like this.

One thing I know about a Vet with a service dog is that 99% of the time they love that dog more than themselves. Probability wise, he isn’t matching the dog into the woods to commit suicide with him. The dog is somewhere, once you find it you will find him close by.

My dad is retired AZ DPS and my mom was a dispatcher. So they are working with his base commander to do these things. He was sharing his location on his phone with my mom, so she wouldn't worry, still says he is sharing, but hasn't updated his location since the 11th. But they did ask that his phone be pinged.

He has an order of protection out against him, in AZ, so I am sure that will effect the LEOs doing the ground work. Because of that though, it has caused AZ LEOs to be notified.

His only military friend he was still talking to wasn't aware he was missing until I called, they spoke to him on the 9th (3 days after my parents last had). She is an Officer at another base and has gotten her General involved in making sure this doesn't fall through the cracks.

He burned a lot of bridges in the Air Force, and in his personal life. Not sure a lot of people would go looking for him. Just turned into an isolated guy, everyone was out to hinder his progress, not help him... at least that was how he described it.

Thanks guys, talking this out help. We have been at this for about a week, I think it is really just starting to sink in.
