I can transition from my ACOG to those 45° sights quickly , the irons are set for 200yrd zero

These A1 A2 45° offset sights were designed around 3 gun competition

Think real world usage not competition. At most it would be the long weapon and a side arm transitions from long weapon to pistol only occurs when your dry or CQB in a house . Things hanging to the side get fetched up on clothing and such when dropping it down on the sling to hang. Just different purposes Chuck , I would love an ACOG but never figured a way to obtain one and the cost out right is beyond what I would spend for a short range weapon.

I've got a friend who's a Army Ranger Veteran and he's the one who got me interested in this style BUS . Trijjicon ACOG aren't that expensive , I got mine for $1150 a few years ago

Well trip was good. Had a blast . People watching freaks was entertaining to say the least. Not used to seeing or using gender neutral restrooms!

 

Bud I get it in a competition setting with known obstacles etc I am sure it Is a great thing. I am not trained that way nor do I wish to deviate to far from the setup I use and train with. I am in no way an expert in any style of gun work but I can get the job done and go home. Paper does not shoot back , walls , carpet, trash , woods , brush tight spaces , random cover and movements do not lend themselves to having a lot of attachments on a weapon. I know you went to Marine training but working a weapon in the field geared out and doing so in a house with hallways barely wide enough to walk down normally require completely different equipment.

I can't help but believe that today's soldiers and police officers are not only armed completely differently but their tactics are completely different than they were 20 years ago. 20 -30 years ago we trained for war in a european theater against Soviet weaponry and Tactics. Just as the world has evolved so have our weapons. Most of the weapons y'all are discussing, I don't believe, exsisted back then. Back then an Officer's side arm was a 1911, primary weapon was a M-16a2 just being phased in. Perhaps Spec ops had variations but they also used AK's

 

You are right the equip is vastly different though the M16 A2 and the M4 are almost duplicates just shorter barreled the optics and sights yeah nothing but the basic iron sites are the same when you get into canted , flip ups, holo graphic etc those were not readily available that I am aware of but others may know far more and better then I do. The tactics used for in a house , searching civilian populated areas and even the load up to and including the bullet types are different we use soft hollow points we have AP but generally it is soft hollow points. We have a ROE that would make a field grunt no matter the service throw up their hands in frustration LOL I know we have retired guys working with us and they constantly rant and rave over the BS. Hell the tactics and what we are allowed to do and use have changed a lot in the last 20 years I have been on the job. We do have a SWAT team who train with another set of weapons over and above what I and others do again they have different rules then we do so lol
