I've had a very similar clunk coming from the front end, still havent fully been able to figure it out. Let me know if you find anything, I'm super curious.

Yes, we did. And all bolts are tight. No sway bar. I have no idea where the noise is coming from. But it is distinct.

LCA bolts? Most clunks from the front come from LCA, sway bar, or front diff.

PS...if you get a really loud clunk followed by 5 quarts of oils falling on the ground, it's the front diff bolts.

I looked at'um, but didn't check the tightness. Torque settings?

The tech at Dealer said he felt the cluck in the UCA. But, I suppose it's possible to feel it even though it isn't the UCA. Force transfer.

100 ft lbs for the LCA eccentric bolts. 85 ft lbs for the UCA through bolt (the bolt that goes through the coil bucket and the bushings of the UCA). 100 ft lbs for the 9/16 bolt that runs through the uniball to the spindle. 118 for the two 19mm bolts that hold the bottom of the LBJ to the spindle.

If you lived closer id come help you figure it out

And by help you figure it out, i mean id do what my mentor did when we did side work together. Stand off a ways, drink beer, and tell you you're doing it wrong.

Lower CAs are tight. Sound seems isolated to left side.

Assuming your brakes aren't hot, grab onto your caliper and caliper bracket (If you have one) and try moving them. Also look around for witness marks from something shifting. if it's shiny, it's been moving - a good flashlight will help you with that.

Anyone know how the weather is in Sanoma? I have to drive there in the morning. In the dark. Had it been cold the last few days?

Thanks for the settings. Everything is right. The only one I didn't check is the 19mm in the LBJ because it's a crown nut with cotter pin intact.

Fernando has a problem with his where is uniball bolt will move inside the knuckle. Maybe check for that? Would probably have to jack it up to take the pressure off it. And take a peek at all your bushings. Maybe the LCA bushings took a shit with all the new mods?

More shit then I ever planned on doing
If I had to guess it would be the UCA bushings. They shouldn’t be bulging the way they are. Did you try taking the weight off the wheels and loosening them to see if they seat back in place.

Also check that your skids are tight

Overnight lows my way are in the mid to low 40s.

I’m about 25 minutes from Sonoma.

Could be your brake pads popping. Is it gone after the first clank til you reverse? The pads can move a bit on the pins once they begin to wear.

    45-ft/lb for three top bolts

Played around with the bushings last week. Fully unbolted them. Cleaned up excess grease, worked the uca up and down a bunch of times. Cleaned up grease again, and retorqued to 85. Look much better. Not perfect, but much better. Will check skids tomorrow.

Thought for sure that was the problem, in the beginning. Bought all new pads and shoes for a full brake job. Got the front pads off on the right side and they were still in great shape. Only 35,500 miles on truck. So, I have everything I need when it's time for a brake job.
