Glad to see I'm not alone. Same issue on my 2017 dbl cab. Issue started @ 5000km (now at 24000km) and dealer keeps saying they can't replicate it. Unfortunately now we are on vacation camping across the Atlantic provinces and it's like driving a 5 ton. Yesterday it got stuck in 4th while my wife was driving with both kids pulling onto the highway and the clutch is toast. She had to red line it and release the clutch to avoid getting hit by another vehicle when she couldn't accelerate. Love my Truck. But this is crazy. Will see what the local Toyota service center has to say tomorrow. Has anyone replaced the stock clutch and transmission with anything better...

@Dannyblues gave the best advice...call corporate and get a case number. Offer to take the Toyota tech on a 1 hour road trip as well. Reference the tsb #

Mine started as soon as I took it on a long drive (I was at around 1500mi i believe) It still acts in the same way, no wors, no better. It almost never happens when driving in town and shifting between 2nd and 3rd . I have noticed it happening between 3rd and 4th. And yes, this happens when driving for a while in the same gear... 5th and 6th mostly
Just confirming the bad news for all of us here :)

Just googled the TSB number. There is a PDF doc coming up
    https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2016/SB-10084376-5448.pdf
There is a hope after all!

Still in the shop. The local Toyota dealership in Moncton NB is fantastic though. They can't replicate the issue but are doing more testing tomorrow and are making recommendations to Toyota Canada. looks like we might be stuck here a few more days though. Now to try and rebook hotels and travel for the journey home. Downside is Toyota US & Toyota Canada are separate entities... so they originally didn't want the TSB # listed here. But, I showed the service advisor and she asked for a copy once she read it. Hopefully some progress. More details as I get them. Thanks everyone for the info! I really appreciate it.

Mine got stuck in 1st and ground when I tried to take it out of gear. Clutch was almost all the way to the floor.

Jesus, I thought they had cleared this up for the 2017s. Last thing I need.

I called and requested the TSB be performed during my upcoming 5K service. I've requested a call back to confirm. Will report back.

Have a feeling they'll want me to pay for it. Glad to.

IMO this should have been a recall. The risk is too high. What the fuck, Toyota?

Dealer/service dept refused to do the TSB without first identifying a problem.

    Stupid. But expected.

Call Toyota headquarters and get a case number as well as the name and telephone extension of the case manager. Then request the local district shop representative come to the dealership to assess your stuck in gear or other complaint. I had to do this twice but I provided the complaint scenario plus I brought the tsb repair requirement to resolve my stuck in gear manual transmission complaint which is hard to duplicate since it occurs only after an hour of highway driving especially in one gear such as fifth or sixth. It's dangerous since it's near impossible to yank shifter out of gear to downshift say as you are slowing and trying to downshift to exit a highway exit ramp while you are freewheeling with the clutch in and slowing while fussing with the shifter all at the same time. Mention the potential danger! With the tsb number you should get results. Dealers will have you coming back many times without resolving this unless you have a case number. They must record a case number complaint and act on it. Again in my situation it took two return trips before they resolved the shifting issue but were forced to apply the tsb repair after the second time. They did it by the tsb and I haven't had a problem since. Dannyblues.
    Best of luck.

Yep this! I headed up north this weekend and am happy to report that the new detent ball absolutely corrected the problem for me. It was so nice being able to shift up or down normally.

Glad you got that potentially dangerous and very annoying problem taken care of.

Brought my 2017 in for 5000 mile service. Told them trans was sometimes hard to shift. They came back with the TSB and ordered the part. Going to get it done next week. Good to see not all dealers give the runaround.

Congratulations!! It’s about time the dealers learned how to correct the stuck in gear problem. Your dealer was up on his game. Lucky you.
You’d think by now after nearly two years that Toyota would rectify the problem at point of manufacture.
Maybe like other large companies Toyota is relying on its past quality reputation. Look what’s happened to Sears! It’s totally gone down and is on its way out of business.
Enjoy the manual. After I had my 2016 corrected last year it’s a dream.

Just got truck back the other day (pin was backorded) and transmission seems to be shifting smoother. Hopefully all is well and I won't have to post any more updates.
