I used a torque wrench. Used the whatever the value, hopefully it wasn't too tight and crushed it. I bought my wanabe Toy 640 from Autozone. It works, fits sorta tight. But works.

Printed out the sheet from the DIY section the 3rd gen thread.

Perfectly normal....although I'd recommend completely against the oil and filter you used :D

You won't hurt the o-ring. It's damage to the housing that could be the issue. I want to say 15 ft lbs of torque is the value. Don't hold me to that. But whatever it is....it's not much

I use Amsoil or Toyota oil. Never will buy a Fram as long as I live.

Why is everyone so against FRAM? I keep hearing this everywhere I go. Maybe I should take this incident as a cue? But many people regard their XG series as being the exception to the rule. Bobisoilguy gives the Ultra Guard good reviews. Maybe it was the other cheaper lines?

I suggest you vacate this thread OP. You can feel it coming. This will quickly turn into a typical TW oil thread with everyone bitching and moaning and claiming their oil can beat your oil type shit.

You're good to go. Enjoy your rig.

For the money you can buy a better oil filter then Fram offers. It's your Truck and your money. It's up to you to decide whats best for you.

I only got the FRAM because I was at Walmart getting the Mobil-1. I've used FRAM XG series or ultra synthetic. It was around 9.99. I found out the dealers sell theirs for $5.00 which I didn't know. I figured they're around 20 or so being the dealer. Had I known that maybe I wouldn't have bought it.

I compared both the FRAM looks much more robust. The Toyota OEM has no support. The FRAM has the plastic top, almost same quality media to my eyes.

Your engine will be fine. Next time you are at the dealer maybe stock up and buy a couple of filters for the price of one at Walmart.

One of the reasons that manufacturers are going to cartridge style filters is that the bypass valves on certain oil filters are lesser quality, now the bypass valves are built into the engine. Which helps eliminate that problem.

I use either the Toyota oil filter or the Amsoil EA15K02 in my Truck and my Wifes Highlander.
I am lucky though. I live in a city that has a Amsoil warehouse so I don't have to pay for shipping and handling.

A Toyota dealer quoted me 69$ for that wrench.

Go to Amazon. A lot cheaper there. Just be careful though. There are oil filter wrenches for V6/V8 engines and ones for 4 cylinder engines. Make sure you get the right one.

I think I paid $13 for mine off of Amazon. But that's been a number of years ago
