Did the tweeters only this weekend. Maybe my ears or music suck... it was great but my jaw didn't drop. Using Spotify, connected via bluetooth. (Now that I think about it, could be my Spotify playback quality/equalizer settings.)

Front and rear speakers will be arriving this afternoon. Hoping to pick up my jaw.

I noticed a substantial difference with the tweeters alone, are you using the paid Spotify? You can set it to a higher bitrate:

Remember were getting what we pay for. Lower end nice speakers with no amp running so its a triple times upgrade from factory but by no means a badass system. Im happy though and glad i did it for 250$

For those of you that have done the sound deadening. How many square ft. have you been averaging for 4 doors, or 2? I’m trying to figure how much to order to start with doors only.

I used 12 SQ feet and spread it over all 4 doors. This was enough to do the immediate area around the speakers as well as the inside of the door skins behind the speakers. I installed an 800 Watt amp, all new speakers, and a sub and ran it for a couple of weeks without the deadening and then added it. It was a dramatic difference and well worth the time/ money.

Thanks. I have the JBL option on my truck, I listen to a lot of podcasts and audiobooks as well as music. Every once in a while with music, I’ll get rattling or more of a buzzing vibration and I can’t quite narrow down where it’s coming from. With the spoken podcasts or books though... the frequency of voices seems to line up perfectly with whatever is rattling, it’s insanely distracting and I end up switching to music. Would this be a good solution to my problem. The rattling strangely doesn’t seem to be coming from the doors, but I’m thinking it just might be how sound travels that I perceive it to be somewhere else, which might be why I can’t track the source down.

Edit: I don’t think it’s the quality of speakers that’s the issue as music performs great, but I’m not opposed to this upgrade if it’s significantly better.

Sound damping can definitely help with rattles, but it's typically used to lower the noise in the cab. Think about how much better your stereo sounds when you're parked compared to when you're doing 75 on the freeway. It's also great to separate the sound coming out of the speakers from the sound bouncing around in the doors. There's really no downside to doing it, aside from the obvious time and cost. It WILL make your system sound better.

You might try downloading a tone generator app and play around with the different frequencies played through your stereo via bluetooth. Usually, this is a good way to consistently produce the buzz you're hearing, isolate it's source, and fix it.

Most people in this thread have been able to cover all 4 doors with 25 sq ft. I needed something like 35 sq ft. because I covered more of the inside of the outer door panel.

That was probably a good, inexpensive and easy thing to do while you were in there. Never going to regret it and a good call out to the rest of us to think 3 steps ahead.

Installing my front/rear door speakers tomorrow, im still amazed as to how the kicker tweeters alone improved the sound so much.

Just installed the door speakers tonight and sound deadening was done over the weekend. I can't believe how much better this is over stock for such a little investment.

Just finished installing the Kicker 6x9's and 6 3/4 door speakers, added some 80mil Nocio sound deading behind speaker in doors, i left the factory vapor barrier in doors.
The speakers sound great and the install was really easy, i did not run into any problems at all (not usually that lucky) and taking my time i finished the job in a little over 3-hours.
The thing that actually amazed me the most was when i pulled the first 6x9 door speaker out and felt it weighed hardly anything, i bet all 4 factory speakers weigh less than one of the Kicker 6x9's do .... really makes you wonder how they actually sounded as good as they did.
An amplifier would really take this up another notch and i may do that down the road sometime. I am happy with the Kicker (subaru) tweeters and the Kicker CS speakers, it is a very noticeable improvement over the factory ones for sure

To be fair, the stock speakers are neodymium, which is a stronger and lighter type of magnet: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neodymium_magnet#Applications

(But of course the upgraded speakers are better)

Best stock speakers I've had in a vehicle... still garbage, but impressive garbage!

Anybody added a sub yet? I want to know the easiest plug and play process for pulling a line-out signal from the back speakers or factory H/U

Search "add an amp Toyota" on Amazon or ebay. There are plug-and-play line out converters that plug into the back of the factory head unit.
