I worked for the U.S. Navy. That's the only government I worked for. We didn't get paid shit.

 

Holy crap, those are some high paying jobs.

 

I agree with this. I work with some really great people who do a great job with the resources given them. (Of course there are bad apples too who really give govt worker reputation a run for its money.)

The real problem stems from the policies that come down from our elected officials, particularly in SF.

We could easily cut our budget by a full quarter if they loosened up some of the social engineering (they manage through purse strings) they have in place. Probably more. Drives me nuts and really limits what we can do.

 

Second highest paid employee is the Head of the Fire Department... $300K+ used to be the higest until they gave the mayor a raise.

I have friends who commute in the bay area to work in fire depts all over. Seems like a good gig.

yes there wages really suck, im in the same bargaining unit 12 that he is in.

 

You have to make at least $90K there just to keep from living out of your car.

 

Since y'all on job topics. My company is hiring tractor trailer drivers from the North Bay to the South Bay.

28 in the north 25 in the south. 5-6 days a week. Most likely maxing out on hours weekly.
