might be a dead thread before I even start, but i feel like my taco is a little underpowered. It’s an 02 2.4l base and I feel like I’m having some power loss somewhere. I’ve cleaned the throttle body, cleaned the intake, no codes, everything runs fine. Good idling speed (no jumps anywhere), but I feel like the 142 hp (which I know at the wheels is slightly lower) is not accurate at all because I was passed by a Prius and I was giving it all I had.

There is about a 15=20% drop through the drivetrain. If the power has dropped start testing not guessing.Spend a couple bucks for a dyno to see where you are and start spending money if it is below spec.

Sounds like you need a turbo system added to your truck.

A little Nitrous systme could save you from getting smoked by hippie cars & not break the bank like a Turbo system or SC.

Did the Prius beat you from a stop or while you were already at speed? Hybrid/electric cars are very quick off the line. They'll out-scoot me from a stop and I'm supercharged/v6. After 15mph or so they fall flat on their face.

Plus...Toyota 4 bangers are a lot of good things (reliable and bulletproof, namely) but fast/powerful is definitely not one of them...

y’all are relentless hahahahaha. Stock wheels and tire sizes. And yeah it was right off the line. I’m just trying to see if there’s anything I can do to add some torque or ponies without breaking the bank.
