2017 audio upgrade advice

Hey guys, just looking for a bit of audio advice and what to add to my current set up. I swapped out my dash speakers with the stock subaru lockers and then installed

$120 kicker 43DSC69304 kicker DSC6930 6x9" (160x230mm) 3-way speakers, 4-ohm (pair)

kicker 43DSC69304 in the front doors and kicker 43CSC674 in the rear doors. I'm running these off the stock non-JBL HU currently and they are obviously way underpowered considering they are 90 and 100 watt rms respectively. I'd like to keep my stock HU, do y'all have any suggestions on a solid 4 channel amp to run these? And is there anything else I would need?

It's nothing extraordinary but Alpine makes good stuff for a decent price.

It's worth noting however that neither of the aftermarket speakers you have list minimum RMS requirements. The fronts are actually specifically designed to work well with low power head-units. They may not be as under powered as you think, or under powered at all in fact. Just because you aren't maxing them out doesn't mean they are under powered to the point of reduced sound quality.

I had found this in my search. I have yet to replace anything in my truck. Thought of going the way you did with the subby speakers and door replacements, instead of spending what theys guys want. I have no clue of quality on their products. Just something i found.

 

Visit the "Audio & Video" section of this board. Folks have found ways to substantially improve the 3rd Gen sound without spending a fortune.

 

It'll get moved there soon I'm sure. But I feel you may be referring to this thread specifically which OP has actually already done, almost - the front kickers OP got are 1 model tier down from the ones bshammer got

and the speakers don't sound bad right now, but I have to kick the volume up to like 45-50 to get the kind of volume I want.

 

Yeah, I basically ordered the exact same things he did, except on crutchfield the front speakers had a deal on them for the model down so I pulled the trigger on those

 

Ah fair enough. If you looking for more volume amp will definintely help. I dont have any experience with infinity but specs wise that seems like it would do the job.

 

I installed the Subaru Kickers as well as the 6X9 and 6-1/2 Kickers from Crutchfield everyone recommended. They made a big improvement in the sound in my truck just using the OEM Head Unit. I did have to mess with the speaker adapters but finally got it all sorted out. As others have said, I'm apalled by how cheap the OEM speakers were. And in a $40,000 truck. Getting the door panels off and back on was a pain. And I ended up losing the little black push-in rivet in the upper front corner of the drivers door panel. Took the one off the passenger door and went to ACE to match it up and found one that was just about a perfect replacement. Cost 50 cents. This was after I went to Oreillys and they didn't have anything. All in all, everything cost me about $250. People need to quit coming up with cool mods that I can't resist.

 

I figured 70 rms to each speaker would be more than enough plus I won't have to rerun speaker wire. Reallyyyyyy not trying to do that lol

 

Dude same thing happened to me, I lost one of those and am actually waiting on a pack of them to get mailed to me. Also the front brackets were an absolute pain. I only ended up putting 3 screws in.

 

What do y'all think about sound processors? Are they worth it?
