I'm looking at either a fully loaded TRD Sport or the Limited. Since I'm at the end of the model year my choices are very limited. I've found both, but not with the help of the local stealership! In both cases I'm going to have to travel to get either one. The local dealer I've resolved myself too are nothing more than a bunch of idiots! There website does not tell you want's on them as far as options, yet other dealerships spell it out clear as clean glass. Also the national Toyota site is worthless. When you search inventory it points you to the closest dealer as having the choice which is the furthest from the truth. You don't even get a VIN number or anything. All the local shop wants you to do is buy what they have, which is slim pickins, period! If and when this goes down you can bet I'm going to nail this one down firm and lay it out to Toyota! I'm in no hurry for the buy so I can wait until the 18's are on the ground. Which have more safety features I'm told. I like the Limited but I'm not keen on the "Hickory" colored leather or the pattern. Are you waiting for this, no one knows if it's real leather or the soft-tex knock off stuff. I've only seen pictures not the real deal. Tonight I'm going to look at a CPO Limited. This may very wll put me over the edge for another brand! They just look at you like a deer in the headlights and walk away. I've tried to use two buying services and those failed right off the line. I say Silver and they come back with Red. Red was not even in the notes! The only silver part was the color of the rims. Question 1) Is the Hickory leather color going to carry over into 18 for the Limited? 2) Any inkling of OEM remote start for the 18's? I'm not a fan of aftermarket, as when it fails and you take it in, all of a sudden no one knows who installed it and they have since gone by the roadside. Screwed until Sunday!! 3) Why so many with very little miles on the used car lots. Are people not pleased, unrealistic expectations? 4) In talking to a friend who is the service director for a huge chain in the area, he's telling me not to buy one as there are still too many known issues that Toyota seems to be taking their sweet time resolving the issues. Honestly I did not come here to whine, but I have to say I'm not impressed with Toyota's offering for trucks! The Tacoma's lack of power and groans when accelerating. The valves tap like an old Subaru in need of a valve job! The Tundra is cheaply made, severely outdated and lacks styling!! Perhaps i just need to stay away?

Wait for 2018, let them get the recall stuff fixed at the factory level.

Place an order for what you want. Get on the waiting list and in a few weeks when it comes in, you will be much happier than limiting your self now.

At the beginning of wall-o-text you want a Sport or Limited and then you say they have no power, are clicky clackity, have no power and Toyota does not resolve issues by the end of your wall-o-text. My opinion, I would not spend 32 to 40g on a vehicle I did not really enjoy.

Holy crap on a cracker!!

    That was painful to read.

Wall of text is right. It should have been broken up with a new paragraph occasionally. Maybe used correct wording (too /to, there/thier, ...) to prevent the reader from having to decode the sentences.

OP... we feel your pain. Here's an idea, maybe a bit less caffeine and take a deep breath before posting.

Don’t do it! If you are going in with this much doubt you are going to hate it! Buy what makes you happy right from the start and have zero regrets.

Chuck Norris had a Ridgeline, just saying. As far as claims of no power, have they even driven the truck? The V6 runs a 16 second 1/4 mile out of the box, not much else out there comes close. If you want to haul super heavy loads or pull big trailers, then a mid size truck probably isn't for you. With a light load or empty, however, my V6 sport is a freaking rocket compared to the Ridgeline and the Frontier. I've only got 2k on it so far, so no clickety clackety just yet but I'll let you know.

Hey, Not sure where you live but I can tell you this has never been my experience dealing with my local Toyota dealers. It seems that it is just your region like you are saying. Toyota's customer care is not bad at all, so I'm sorry you are having a difficult time finding the truck you want.

Please see below some information that might help:
    2018 updates/changes list

    upload_2017-10-4_15-23-21.jpg

Question 1) Is the Hickory leather color going to carry over into 18 for the Limited?
I believe so - you can check this forum for the 2018 changes thread:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/whats-the-chatter-on-the-2018s.482814/page-101#post-16176126

    2) Any inkling of OEM remote start for the 18's? I'm not a fan of aftermarket, as when it fails and you take it in, all of a sudden no one knows who installed it and they have since gone by the roadside. Screwed until Sunday!!
    No OEM remote start.
    3) Why so many with very little miles on the used car lots. Are people not pleased, unrealistic expectations?
With recalls and such possibly people traded them in, however a lot of taco enthusiasts trade in for different models when they are done modding. Or any number of reasons but just make sure you check carfax and look into the service records, since that would tell you more than anything else. You can also search the VIN on a tacoma if you are weary and see what recalls if any that particular taco had. *not all tacoma's were affected by the recalls, despite what you may hear**
I would not really go with your friends advice here. I am not sure if he drives another model of truck and would prefer you follow his lead, but this is just an inaccurate statement. I owned the previous version of the Tacoma and really see no 'bugs' or quality issues from buying the first year of the redesign. Granted my Truck has been free from recalls or issues. Also, you are looking at 2017 or 2018 not 2016 early builds.
How do you know there is a lack of power without test driving the one you might own? If you can drive manual and can go without the double cab configuration the access cab manual is very quick. There is an ECT button on the automatic that seems to help with this. However regardless of the configuration it is a midsized truck with a V6. It gets you where you need to go regardless of the terrain but not at 100 miles per hour. And generally that is why I am very satisfied with the ride and speed of my tacoma. If you are not interested in Toyota you can try any of the other brands but it seems like you might be just as disappointed in those models for different reasons. I agree the Tundra's interior is odd and has steered me away from getting one for that reason. You might not be a Tacoma person, because generally its love at first sight for us on here. We hope you are though!

Wonderfully written. It really was love at first sight for me, almost as if I had never seen a Tacoma before then,04 all of a sudden I saw the light and wanted nothing else. Now I have a '17 and I think about her all day and all night. Love this truck.

I guess for the OP, might as well wait for the '18 and do some more research and test drive many different trucks. It sounds like you've unsold yourself on the Taco.

:bikewheelie2: Same here! Every-time I drive it I have to make some comment to my passenger about what I love about it. I think I average about 4 pictures per week (and that is with some restraint lol). You can get addicted to these tacos I swear.

I, myself am waiting on the 18's. Cant decide manual or automatic OR DCSB..... I have test driven everything from 2500 Power Wagon to the Frontier and the Tacoma seems to be the sweet spot for me.

Haha before I bought mine I used to drive my wife crazy, every time I saw a Tacoma I would look to her and say "how stoked is that person right now because they get to drive a Tacoma?!" Now I drive her crazy saying it about me!!

I skipped the wait and went with the 17. I figure whatever comes up, Toyota will make me whole. That said it seems like there is little change and the truck at its heart will be the same. Just some superficial changes for 18.

I love this thing, and would do it all over again.
