I'd love to go with ARB if they didn't look like a fuckin VHS player. I'm looking at the Pelfreybilt aluminum with no hoops right now

ARB is the only crash approved bumper and compatible with the airbags, so... and the design doesn't yell "LOOK AT MY OVERLAND RIG" lol

Have you seen the ARB in person? It's one of the biggest loudest bumpers I've seen. It ads like 8" to the length of the front.
Why do you say no to the Pelfreybilt?

Yep, I've seen it many times on the trails in person. Nobody had any complaints about the length of the bumper, plus I've see them abroad often. Tells me that they are good.

I don't like Pelfreybilt for the price(1500USD), it's more expensive than ARB (1300CAD for 2005-11).
I believe aluminum bumper will live less longer knowing how you drive lol. Heck, even Peter's bumper had to be fixed recently and he had a steel one.

And think about your mileage, adding full size bumper will kill it. US Off-road is the perfect solution if you are using a truck as a DD. I will be going that way some day, just need to have a right price.

I think most dealers' ExpressLube lanes have two hoses, one for 5W30 and another for 0W20. So there's a 50/50 chance you got the correct oil, especially since the 4-cyl uses the other weight.

For loose surfaces like sand, wheelspin with locker works better than A-Trac (which is a system for stopping wheelspin). I think it may have been Whippersnapper who showed this back in 2010.

Yea I put it in 4Hi, 2nd gear, trac off

I wanted the wheels spinning with out traction control, did not want the truck changing gears so as to keep the momentum up.

If I didnt make it the 1st try, 2nd try was going to what you said, 4Lo, locker engaged, trac off, A-Trac off.

Pelfreybilt aluminum no hoop is 60lbs $1299 us
    ARB is 167lbs $1099 us
    Us offroad is about 70lbs
These are all plus 100lbs winch. As for Pete I'd be willing to bet that if he wasn't so weighed, and slowed down a little on the first part of that climb, he might have cleared it.
If I look at it realistically the Pelfreybilt fits my needs better than most other options.
I can't justify all that weight on the front of my dd for the 2 maybe 3 times a year I'll be using it. I do appreciate the amount of protection offered by the ARB but 267lbs is way too much for me. Are there any other bumpers that look as streamlined as the Pelfreybilt and come in aluminum? I honestly want the smallest, highest clearance bumper I can find.
