    It’s not that I can’t do it, I just hate cutting into factory harness wires.

    I had an alarm/remote start on the taco years back. The alarm brain died after 5 years and I wasn’t gonna spend the money to replace or buy another one. Well it almost left me stranded that night since the brain controlled the ignition signal. I finally got it started and home. Spent 3 hours in the garage with the dash apart tearing out the alarm and all it’s wires and hooking things back up. Long story short, the part of the alarm that tied into the ignition signal was a fucking scotch lock on 2-3 wires on the main harness. They severed almost all of the small individual wires so I had to rebuild that small portion of the factory harness. That’s why I stick to plug and play now. Plus, if you ever have to replace the factory main harness, it’s well over $1k from any dealer and you have to completely remove the dash to the firewall to R&R the harness.

    We’ve done em before. For the most part the engine harness its its own assembly, and the interior harness is another that passes through the firewall and connects to the fuse box.

    Mainly I had marred up some of the painted areas, and I’m ocd so I wanted it to look nice. Plus the new one seems to be an actual silver, the old one was more of a gray color
